I'm dispatching and I haven't worked with alcohol before and now we are going to haul beer with a couple of our vans out of PA to the Northeast(NJ,NY,MA,VT). Does anyone know the in's and out's for hauling beer?

    Do you need permits?
    Can the shipper provide permits?
    What states need permits?
    Etc?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I know New Jersey requires a permit. Couldn't tell you about the other states.

The Carrier is responsible for obtaining state Alcohol Permits. I believe NJ, NY, & MA require said permits to haul alcohol, not sure about Vermont.

You can get a 1 time permit, goes with the BOL. Shipper MIGHT be able to provide it.
