“WASHINGTON, Maine — Two people were killed Friday afternoon when a flatbed truck carrying lumber flipped on Route 17, striking three oncoming cars, causing one vehicle to burst into flames.”

Although it appears the driver and his passenger were both injured in the crash, it sounds like they’re both going to survive.

That's going to be a tough one to live with. Sounds like he might have been going a bit too fast.

    RIP.

Yup. I spent some time thinking on that today down 79, PA - WV.

I thought , " These folks place quite a bit of faith in their equipment, and seem to be in an awful hurry "

I made it to the truck stop - hope they did too.

I've traveled through many times and non of those corners are really sharp. Speed limit is 50 mph so he had to be hauling some serious ### to roll like he did.

Speed while often a factor, isn't the only thing. A driver about 100yards in front of me on UT20 between I15 and US89, was well doing an acceptable speed and still rolled after he had a trailer problem "fixed." A trailer Axel locked before he went into the turn.

But as stated above, driving to the limits of the equipment works, as long as the equipment dosent fail.

He survived with minor cuts fyi.

Likewise, I travel down that road every week and would have to believe he was either speeding or perhaps the load shifted if it wasn't properly secured. There's more about this crash now posted at http://knox.villagesoup.com/p/owls-...-two-who-perished-in-washington-crash/1497444

We'll see. That stretch of road has a bad accident history- FOUR ACCIDENTS in less than a year-THREE of which occurred in less than 7 months time. Less than 24 hours after Friday's fatal accident, a car wrecked near the crash site.

Unbelievable! I hadn't heard about that other accident yet. You'd think people would pay more attention with all the accidents that happen there, but they don't. Guess their are either to numb to pay attention or in so much of hurry to go no where, that they don't care.
