With all that’s going on my crystal ball is broken. Everyone with a little common sense knows that it’s coming, but when there’s no telling.
I went to Walmart this morning and at 7:03am It looked like a Friday afternoon. The canned food is still wiped out. The frozen food was at about 50%. The fresh meat was about 30% of normal. They were putting out rotisserie chicken when I walked in and normally it’s 11:00 when they put them out.

I thought we've been against the storm already. Even before the virus. The huge waves and lightning thunders....ships were sinking too. Can it get even worse?

Yeah, but that "freight cliff" word picture seems more ominous. LOL

Just be careful what you haul. There will be something to haul. I'm sticking to known brokers, bigger brokerages and (known) older contracts. I'm also not going to haul something with a risk of waiting days to be loaded or unloaded (water, paper, cleaners) right now.

It's no guarantee but you do what you can. I am pretty ticked that 2 of my regulars have cancelled their quickpay in the last week. A mix of quickpay and slow pay (30ish) is how I find balance.

My last load was a mix of "wipes" and dry food stuffs. As noted, I was at the shipper for 6.5 hours, got 4.5 hrs detention, However, the receiver unloaded me in record time. To which I was sorely disappointed because I came prepared to hop into the bunk and sleep and wake up to a good 6 hours or more of detention pay! LOL

Alas, it didn't happen. Isn't that the way it works out sometimes. When you DO want something to happen like that, it doesn't ;-)

Aint' that the truth! Still, I think the times call for planning wisely. You can be I'm not going to be late for a strict appointment these days!

That's a point I made awhile back. I'm a little skiddish to do business with smaller, lesser known, brokerages right now.

I do have a $10,000 credit line at my credit union. The APR on that line is 7.5%, which is cheap compared to quickpay rates of 2% to 4% these broker firms charge.

Using a factoring service like Triumph is out of the question for me since I got into this gig 5 years ago. Those full recourse advances can be dangerous.

I created this meme. Posted it over on another thread, but thought I'd put it here too.

    No offense @PPDCT it's just a joke ;-)
