Google it, look on Craigslist too. I recall seeing an outfit near Dallas that wasn't too expensive. That link above shows they charge $400 for rental, seems kinda high. I know of a place in AZ, it's like $250-275 or so to rent for test. Or try calling your DMV for referrals, they probably have some cards for a few companies that rent.

If husband been out over 3 years, he'd need a refresher course with a lot of companies now. Western Express I think offers that for no charge in their advertisements on CL. Good Luck.

 

Just to clarify the situation for renting a truck to take a CDL exam in. The potential CDL examinee cannot just rent the truck and drive it to the exam site. A current CDL holder has to drive it there and wait while the candidate take the test. Then drive it back to the renting location. That involves time which also has to be paid.
I have no connection to the listed company. I knew someone who used them.

 

There is a truck that sits next to the DPS in Cleburne that says it can be rented for the CDL.

CDL Connection (not to be confused with cdl test truck). I would like to hop in here. I just got my cdl back here in Dallas after letting it go for a couple years. I investigated test truck rental options and found CDL Connection. I did my research and chose these guys. They were straight forward from the git go told me cost and service up front. Debbie never ducked a question or waffled on an answer. When it came time for my 3hr practice session I got one on one attention...my way. . the way I wanted to spend my time. The next day I went to the appointment they had set for me and the trainer was right there to remind me of all that pretrip stuff. Lennie waited til I was done and celebrated when I passed with flying colors. I observed he treated all his clients the same way.
I recommend these guys if you already know how to drive but need to know how to pass texas test.
