If the road is close, then there's a detour sign near it....follow that instead....your brain and eyes are better than any gps

Some road and exit closure are posted marked early and adequately enough so that drivers do not have to make last second decisions , though not all of them . I am not fond of surprises .

Keeping your eyes open and wits about yourself , is great advice, It may the keeping of wits about me , that I am having problems with.

My boss switched companies recently, and the new outfit uses omnitrac. Omnitrac seems to work fairly well at times, google earth has been a big help. The points of interest feature has been a pain , thinking that might an hardware issue, or a fumble fingered user, seem to have problems scrolling .
Have used both Garmin and Rand in the past, some of their features seem easier to operate

Stop depending on an electronic device to think for you. Truck restrictions change slowly, and signs are posted.... ever think of using that space between your ears?

That area of Dallas/ft worth has been under construction for a decade now. No way a gps, which uses internal maps will ever keep up. Even the internet databases have a hard time keeping up.
