my TS pocket guidebook lied to me:biggrin_2552:

i cant remember the exact exit, 5.6.7 something like that on 90 in gary IN, i was on a team run, and the other driver was out of hours , so i looked at the TS book, and i seen 2 TS off this exit, i think it was IMZ TS and something else , well they were no TS to be found, just big oil/fuel tanks, we didnt try extremely hard to find it , but the we didnt see any signs for them

makes me wonder if they were demolished or what but thats the first time the little book let me down

I am retired and have not run that direction in many years. However, I think the tank farms are west of the truck stops, in Hammond. I hauled asphalt components to and from there. I-90 is the Toll Road and Chicago Skyway. I-80/1-94 has 3 truck stops at Ripley Street, Lake Station, IN. It is a bit tricky to get on Ripley street (Route 51 ?) if you are westbound because that is also the exit to the Toll Road.

Did you end up on the Toll Road when you were trying to get to the truck stops? Did you continue on I-90 into Chicago and pay the big toll for the high bridge, or did you work your way back to I-94? I won't get into the mistakes I made when my lead driver was sleeping.

The Indy Toll Road has a big service plaza not too far from the Chicago Skyway and many more evenly spaced along the route it has hardee's and a variety of other fast food offerings and discounted fuel:biggrin_25515:

My guide fooled me saying there were 2 truck stops at the 95 mm on I-64 . I was headed Westbound and didn't see them . They are where I-57 and I-64 run together using I-57 mile markers .

My trainer and I got boned by the TS guide, too. Went looking for the Mobil service plaza on I-88, MM 120, and it just wasn't there. The sign with today's gas price is still up, but no plaza. The "follow someone who looks like he knows where he's going" method took us down the back roads around Geneva, IL. Found our way back to the interstate. Second choice was a Clark TS nearby. Shut down and blocked off. By then we were both out of hours and did a 10 in a shopping mall.
