I am not trying to be pissy but generally want to know how an experienced driver would handle this.
Parked in truck stop for the night along the curb. Parking is ok there as there are not any no parking signs.
Get blocked in by a couple other trucks who park beside us. Don’t they realize we probably need to get out before them. Our hours are important too.
What would you do? Probably not much can be done?
Like I said not trying to be pissy but I would never have done that.
Truck Stop Question, getting blocked in when parking is limited?

Wake them up so they can move to let you out

I've parked on curb before, but I usually park in a way nobody else can park next to me... it's hard to find parking after 6 as it is... if you can get in early and get a spot that's best
DBIGUY Thanks this. -
What I do is knock on their window when it’s time to go. Not a big deal, everyone moves, don’t even worry about knocking might be rude. Annoying but no biggie.

It is rude to try to get out and you hit their trucks to wake them up.
Knock on the door, ask them to move and nine times out of ten they will move.Trucker61016, DBIGUY, Farmerbob1 and 6 others Thank this. -
Parking along the curb is not a parking spot. Just because their is not a No Parking Sign. Usually trucks can't make the swing if someone parks alongside the curb or it make it more difficult for everyone else. You found this out when other drives parked just like your did. When everyone starts making their own parking spot eventually someone gets blocked in.
all you can do is go wake then up. If the truck stop is full people have to park by the curb. What gets me is drives parking along the curb even when their are lots of parking spot.Trucker61016, Farmerbob1, dunchues and 6 others Thank this. -
9 times out of 10 they don't move anymore.
Because they're on E L O G S.
That's the excuse I ALWAYS get when I can't go to work because my truck is blocked in at the barn. Sometimes. We're lucky if we can park our cars in the employee parking. -

Park in a spot instead.
If spots are full, park on curb if you must.
Politely wake up drivers that have blocked you in when you're ready to leave.
If I'm forced into a compromised parking situation, I talk to other drivers and see who needs to go where, and when - often find a better solution this way.
Keep cool - good luck.tommymonza, Trucker61016, DBIGUY and 1 other person Thank this. -
I see drivers in legal spots asking drivers parked on curbs to move all the time because there isn't enough room to get out of their spot. The only time I've been blocked in was by a hot shot driver pulling an RV. Knocked on his door and he told me to F** off. I went inside and told the management and let them deal with him. He moved and left.
stwik, Trucker61016, Farmerbob1 and 2 others Thank this.
