Now that's funny! I look at TrkNet UK quite often and they seem to be about the same on that side of the pond. In other words they know everything too and deliver the correct answers...with class, just like we do.

That is the one..Sefner. Thank ya

Hell, it doesn't have to be the drivers with the shiny trucks, even. You just have to find someone who doesn't see this job in the "another day, another Dollar" perspective. They'd typically be hearing some of your husband's experiences, in addition to sharing their own.

What do you mean by that? I am not sure if I understand.

And If I shall choose between several truck stops, you would choose Wildwood?

For my husband, being a trucker is not a job, it is a lifestyle. I guess that is what he is trying to find in Orlando, as well as shiny trucks.
And his english is really, really bad ;) But I guess it does not matter if he is in his correct environment :D

Yes maam--wildwood--IMHO--would be the best spot--lots of trucks in the area--easy ride up from where you are staying(in Davenport)
Since y'all aren't from here--I guess you wouldn't understand the CB remark--There are a lot of people(not all drivers)that use the CB for their own personal nonsense--so at a place like Wildwood--you will hear all sorts of things--many(most)have nothing to do w/trucking--everything from people trying to sell goods/services--to people complaining about everything--from politics to religion etc.--and most of it--well let's just say--you wouldn't want the kids to hear--and can paint a pretty poor picture of Trucking--and people in general--but it really isn't representative of the people here-or the trucking industry--
Anyway--welcome--enjoy your time here--I hope it is everything you hoped for and MORE!

    Thanks a lot!!

That is the same way all over, in Norway too. Being a trucker is not a good reputation because of many drivers doing and saying a lot of bad things. So yes, I do understand what you say. Long days, low salary, bad people, criminal people, dirty people, they actually have it all... Many drivers are good truckers, but to many are not and that is what most people see from the outside. Sometimes I really do not feel proud when I say I am a truckers wife because of what many people think about that job.

Like today we have a lot of problems with drivers from eastern Europe and 90% of them are really not good for our industry (bad drivers, crime and poor trucks like summer tires on tough Norwegian winters and no "chains" for the tires either) they destroy the industry with far to low prices, bad trucks and lots of road crime and accidents. It does not help with an already poor reputation for the truckers. And these drivers give people from eastern Europe a bad reputation as well.

My husband will have the time of his life! And the oldest boy too ;) He will be 9 when we are there.

I'll tell it to you without the sugar coating. The CB is citizen's band - it's a two way radio system, and I'm sure they use something similar in Europe. A lot of people like to act like complete #######es on that thing, especially here - I'm actually sitting at the TA in Wildwood right now, with a load delivering in Clearwater in the morning, and I have my CB on. It's quiet now, but it wasn't a few minutes ago. So, yeah, it could leave a very bad impression.

In case some people didn't know, in many parts of Europe truck drivers are considered no better than pond scum by the general public. It's actually quite funny to hear an American truck driver complain of lack of respect because some four wheeler cut him off. Depending on how you look at it, we are highly respected here in the states. I personally find that cars are more willing to "flash" me over after I have passed them and more times than not respect my turn signals better than most truck drivers.
