All I can say is thru first hand experience many years ago leave it to a woman to make you lose your mind and life with the court and probation system in Nebraska is unpleasant.
But I did learn a valuable lesson ....run !

Many years ago I worked with a guy from Nebraska. He was maybe 20 years older than me, and was the big boss's friend. He got hired at our shop as a consultant. Really knew his stuff, too.

He and I and a woman coworker who was about my age used to take smoke breaks together. He started telling us stories about how he used to be a cop in Nebraska -- really good, interesting stories. Then every once in a while he'd make a comment about his ex-wife, and we could tell he really didn't like her.

My coworker apparently had been doing the math the whole time this guy was telling stories. One day we were out smoking together, just us two, and she said that there was a five-year gap in his history. I was like, huh, never noticed. Then she said she had done some research (this was early 2000s, so the internet wasn't quite the same as now) and found something. I said, huh, what'd you find out?

Turns out he was a cop who came home early one day and caught his wife in bed with another man. He shot the guy dead. He only served five years in prison -- crime of passion, so the judge went easy on him.

Suddenly all those times he'd muttered about how he should have 'got rid of' his wife earlier made more sense.

Ask any patrol officer "what's the call you hate to get the most?" 99.999 times out of 100 he/she will say "domestic". Also it's statistically about the most dangerous call an officer has to respond to.
