Consider these numbers. In 1972, when most of the Interstate highway system was complete there were approx 108,460,000 motor vehicles registered in the US. By 2010 that number had increased to
approx 242, 060,000 vehicles. At the same time there have been only an 8 percent increase in the number of lane miles of highway built.
It is not your imagination that there are way more vehicles on the highway than most are designed for. And that is going to increase the amount of road rage exponentially. We have only begun to see it's effects.
25 years ago it wasn't even a consideration, now commonplace.

lol, bunch of idiots.
While the brake check dude shouldn't be permitted to drive anything those who ran into stopped traffic aren't without fault. -
Actually under the full technical aspect and writing of law, the break check btard is the responsible party for the accidents.
Yes, the fools following too close contributed to the situation and share a percentage of responsibility. The primary action was on the break check.
Accident investigations always look for the root cause, the break check is the root cause. It was this action that created the chain of events.
The argument is and will be that the break check was done with forethought and intent to cause harm.
While the lead up to that recored incident is unknown, what is known is recorded and is clear that the break check truck moved intentionally.
Now, they will find the driver. The license plate is clear in the dash video. A few keys on a computer and that will lead to someone. A few calls later and the person pulling that trailer will be identified.
No doubt that it will be a long and exhausting legal actions all around. The insurance companies and attorneys are going to get the most out of this.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
The short video definately did not tell the story. All I can see is that life is well with the world behind that nice steady eddie Uhaul at about 50 give or take far right and here comes the brake checker already in the left two lanes.
I say both drivers in both semis will have to be hauled before the bar and see what's what.
I don't hear well when I keep the computer sound down (Its seriously powerful for my needs) but I think I heard that same thump of someone slamming into that decap bar way back there at the end of the trailer. That's not a sound I like to hear.Rocks Thanks this. -
Either way, I can guarantee you that the Illinois State Police are not happy and when they find the driver that started that wreck they’re going to come down on them like the Wrath Of God!!
It’s s*** like this that makes them declare open season on truckers.drvrtech77 and bzinger Thank this. -
(I was just up in Chicagoland last week, had to make sure it wasn't me! Hahahah)
Unfortunately,,,,,
I feel the need to play the role of devil's advocate here, because what I see in Chicago is pretty out of control on a regular basis anyway.
Now I can't see what happened behind the camera truck, (anyone have any link to coverage of this incident?) but just like Mr. Camera didn't plow into Breakcheck Dude at speed, where is the responsibility of the "15 vehicles" behind the camera truck to avoid a collision?
Sheesh, it's the Illinois Tollway, it's not like they can have a reasonable expectation of it to actually be MOVING! Gridlock is it's native state.
In my neck of the woods back in the day the unofficial rule of thumb was "guy in the back pays", and to prove that you were intentionally hit (remember when guys would throw it into reverse at a light?) was actually very hard to prove.
EDIT:
I can't find any news story on this.
I'd think a 15 car pileup would make the news, so its probably a lot less than the guy said.Last edited: May 13, 2018

We don't know what was in front of the brake checking truck. We only have the video titled/describing being brake checked and the truck ahead coming to a stop on the tollway, but we still don't know definitively what was in front according to the video. The video title and the reaction of the guy following's comment on the CB are all mind control, not facts in evidence.

Actually it can be seen that no traffic was in front of the brake checking truck, it is visible when the camera truck move towards the median shoulder. The roadway in front is clear for some distance and traffic is moving as normal for the area.
