Continued from above...
And when you apply for other various jobs, your always dealing with people who, although they work in transportation on the admin end, never quite seem to understand the extent of physical exertsion or toll the industry can have on a person...
They just can't quite comprehend what it's like being away for days, weeks, months at a time, living your life out of a fyberglass fort...
Where your now told you can't idle, so now you either have to freeze at night or boil during the day...or be penalized...
They'll, the admin side, will never understand why so many drivers job hop...
They don't know what it's like to feel like your being held hostage to someone elses 'will'...while hundreds or thousands of miles away...
Nor will they ever understand what it's like for a company to suddenly route you to a terminal, hundreds or 1000's of miles from your home, and suddenly terminate your employment.
Yet, many are still willing to do it...for various reasons, adventure, money, boredom, money, can't find any other type of job or career...or...simply out of enjoyment...
Some, or maybe many, drivers still enjoy it...and good for them, they're the lucky ones...
their whole lifestyles are catored towards this industry, for some it's generational, and thus they have the support...
First generational drivers, who are the first in their family to drive a truck, usually have the most difficult time adjusting...
Anyways...let me wrap this up...
Again...I can only write at certain times now...which is a shame...
For it effects my 'themes'...
Oh well...regardless of what happens to me in the future, at least I'll always have my thoughts...and so will you...later...
Trucking can be like a bad marriage...

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds

You never quite know how to read people...
Some places want way to much info, some seem to ask for very little...
All you can do is your best...
I get a ton of offers from owners who want to throw me in their trucks and send me out for weeks...(not to mention produce season is coming up)...
I did that once, was promised big money, earned very little do to corrupt outfit...
Potato hauling is...wow...how can I explain this...
Your around some very rough people, socially primitave...your working around lots of migrant workers, large dusty groves...and other drivers who are straight from the 1950's...a very rough lot...
And all they want to talk about is 'loads' and other truck or maintance related stuff.
Very utility orientated enviornment...
Your smoothered in this enviornment for days, weeks at a time...
If your a guy, a metro guy, all you see for weeks is other very grungy guys wearing utility farm clothes...
Men who are to old and set in their ways to be interested in you in any way shape or form...(I'm talking socially)...
All they want is for you to get out of their way so they can get their load, after waiting in line for possibly half a day.
And the loads are heavy...the good farms have scales on them, and some even can weigh you as your getting loaded...
If not...you better know the weight of your truck. Otherwise...a scale may be 20 miles away...and if your to heavy...it's either back roads, or drive back to the farm, and wait another 2-4 hours....
That enviornment can burn you out quick, depending on your make up...
Then again others thrive in it...mainly seasonal owner operators who earn enough in 4-6 months, then relax the rest of the year...
After a while you stop shaving, and give into that enviornment, if your not careful...and you to start taking on that 'utility look'...
That 'John Deer' truck driver lounge look...
Which is fine, I suppose, if you fit into that world...if you've already got a wife and 5 kids.
And or if you call your wife 'mamma'...'Mammas waiting for me back at the house'..
Actually I sometimes envy people like that...for one thing they have at the moment that I don't, is stability.
Anyways...for those who are acute, despite my antics, I do share a lot of pertinant information on trucking if you can stomache my other stuff...Last edited: Feb 14, 2011

I'm in a ghettoree area...
It's cold....I'm hungry....soon I will be as skinny as a ethiopian agian...
Being thin is good though...I guess...
I have nothing motivational to say right now...I'm out in the open, on the streets...using remote internet service...
I just hope those of you that are fat and fed are happy tonight...
and warm...
My future is very uncertain right now...I got some family legacy stuff going on right now...
It feels like a Nancy drew mystery...
I can relate to all...even those who use to read those old time mystery novels...
Anyhow...I need to scat...I'm outside and it's cold...
Later... -
Last night was termoilious (if that's even a word)...
I may be moving soon...not sure...to help out family...
Not sure how it will work out...
Driving over the road for many years, changes you in many ways...
In a way it makes you 'selfish'...or can...and very independent...
Your not use to being around people or family every single day...and you have to get use to that again...
When your over the road, you deal with people, family, issues, for a few days, then you're gone...you escape...and leave things for others to manage...
But as you get older, and your parents or others start needing your help, it get's harder to justify that behavior or lifestyle...
When emergencies and stuff go down, and say you live in Miami, FL...it's tough when your in Illinios, and won't be home for another 12 days or so...
That's why I say trucking works best when you have a support system...meaning a wife or husband at home to handle things...(if they can take you being gone emotionally)...
I really do wish I could start over from the age of 20 or highschool...
My path would of been either career military...(possibly pilot)
Or
Baseball...proffesional
or
Reporter and or editor...tv or print
or
teacher or councelor
I would have a regular house, with a regular wife, regular kids, and regular pets...and a regular scheduale...
Instead, now my life feels more like a Maze...
Where every decision seems to take you further away from your intended path and or goals...
It can get scary sometimes...
Expecially when you don't know the outcome...U4EA Thanks this. -
Can I just say one thing to all those on hireing commitees...
All thiose who sit behind desks, eating hamburgers and subway sandwiches...all those who decide and or determine the immediate fate of people, souls, who are desperate...
All those who have sold out to the beast...the corporate beast...
Who hold the balance of life in your hands...
I just want to say....
Screw off!!
You fat, lazy, none labour types...screw off!!
You have sacrificed nothing!!
And anothing thing....## your gaps in employment crap....
Corporations arent's gods....if a man or woman wants to take time off between jobs to take care of family....what business is that of yours??!!
Corporations aren't god!!
Corporations aren't god!!
And If I want to take time off to take care of sick family or tend to other personal stuff...what business is that of yours!!
Your not god!!
I don't worship corporations...
And one day you will fall...all of you...those who suck up to corporate ways...your nothing more than pawns...useful pawns...
You deny those of us who want to work jobs, based on silly stupid criteria...
But one day it will come back to haunt you...just watch...those of you who placed corporate identity above human need...
I am the voice of the future..you just don't know it yet....
Just watch....
One kingdom after another corporate kingdom will fall....
later...

I don't know whether it is the economy, or other "outside" forces causing such a strict hiring policy; but in any event, it has become ridiculous.
Some of these companies who would previously hire a trained monkey to drive, now suddenly abide the same hiring processes as a world renowned hospital, hiring a chief neurosurgeon.
So I have a f**king 3 month gap in employment; maybe I saved up to go SCUBA diving on the great barrier reef for 2.5 months - maybe I just wanted to live a little. Maybe I wanted to enjoy life while I am alive - maybe I wanted to do more than enslave myself to make someone else rich 24 hours a day, 365(ish) days a year.
It doesn't make me a poor worker or someone with poor work ethics.
But honestly, honestly.....
What is sad, what is really sad is the fact that some of these companies who recently have such stringent hiring standards pay poverty wages. All that fuss, all that "what makes you deserving to work for us" attitude; just to be barely able to survive.
God help us al.....ghostchild Thanks this. -
You are correct U4EA...very correct...
But all this crap will implode soon...
I really don't think the mark of the beast is so much of an induvisual, as it is a system...a finacial system...one that requires you to sacrifice time and principle...
And if you don't, you can't 'buy or sell'
Just like in revelations...many of these corporations have become like 'demi-gods'...
And the people they employ are trained to serve them like mindless sheep...(particularly admin side)
They want you to put loyalty to them above even your own family, even if their dying...
And of all industries, you would think trucking personel would understand...
That stay out for 2-3 weeks stuff just doesn't fly anymore for many...
I use to read on here about drivers now in their 50's or 60's who sacrificed 20 years or more, away from their kids growing up, anniversaries, funerals, births, for the company they worked for...
Many are just not willing to do that anymore...and then while on your death bed, your flash backs are of spending time at hundreds of gravel lots on Friday nights alone, instead of with family and or friends.
Yes employment is good, who doesn't need an income in a money based, money worshiping world...
But what hiring commitees in this industry don't realize is trucking isn't like other jobs...
If you work at a bank or school or as a retailer...you don't have the need to job hop so much, cause your always there at home...or in a warehouse...you have time to resolve your issues, they don't build up.
I do believe the 'beast' is this whole economic system...
Nor do I think 'work' and 'employment' nessicarily mean the same thing...
I think the biblical term 'work' refered more to a man who lived on a farm with his family...and you would 'work' that land to provide for yourself and immediate family...
I don't think the biblical term 'work' meant working to provide for a whole society and or corporate entities...cause society wasn't structured like this back then...
There was no stock market or dow jones, or index average...
You instead woke up, and tended to your own stuff...
(unless unfortunate enough to be like an egyption slave or something building pyramids for the pharoah)
But if you look at the dollar bill above, I think we're still building pyramids for the pharoah gods...how ironic...
It's basically the same principle...for those who know how to think, they'll know what I'm talking about...
continued on next post...Last edited: Feb 18, 2011

I agree as well. The Book Of Revelations was written eons ago and has to be interpreted in present day; modern day corporations can be in some sense compared to "false idols" or anti-christs, using the masses, isolating them from friends and family in pursuit of a meager paycheck.[/QUOTE]
'Isolating from family and friends'....
That's exactly it...that's usually what 'gods' want...
And or 'cults'...
The behavior of many corporations are indeed similuar to dieties of old...
Or that whole golden calf thing, that Isreal of old was always so vunerable too...
Gods require time and sacrifice...and that's ok if your worshipping the true one and only God...
But when false gods, (systems) or 'demi-gods' want of you that which you don't even give to the true God...than somethings wrong...
The whole system has taken on a distinct 'persona' of it's own...
And unless your willing to bow down...you suffer...
That's a similuar running theme with many past 'idol god' systems or characteristics..
Even think of Daniel and King Nebicaneezuar...the whole 'bow down and worship me or I'll throw you in the lions den scenerio'...
And think about it...today, as a worker, your punished by corporate entities, cause you 'Dared take time off from work'...
They want absolute loyalty, and faithfulness, worship...
They want you to work on both the Sabbath, and on Sunday...
Ok, this is getting kind of creepy...
Fun, but creepy...cause the powers that be are so big and out of control...
One thing for sure...gone are the days of being able to live in a cabin somewhere in Montana, and just being left alone...growing your own food, and settling on 20 acres of fertile land...
How so so sad...
To do so now, one must be a millionare...(property price)...and even once you settle, you still have to pay homage to the state through property taxes...
Wow...what has gone wrong with this world and or nation... -
Ahh, the show down....Tea Party vs Labour Unions...or I should say government labour unions...
Today in Wisconson...be there to witness this spectical of two clashing classes of citizentry.
I know people say Labour unions aren't neccisary anymore...but nor do I outright trust corporations to do the right thing...
(I know I know, in this case it isn't corporations per say, rather it's more of a state budget issue)
Without the ability to bargain for better wages and condition...America will simply become a nation of hamburger resturants, Denny type of jobs and wages..
where even engineers will earn $12.00 an hour...
I don't believe any one side should have all the power...not labour unions, for they can gut a company, and not corporations whom can deny workers benefits, cut hours, fire and terminate (without worker recourse)...
There has to be a balance...
I don't want Walmart employment and wages to become the 'standard' of what it is to be middle class in America...
But without Unions or some kind of group or groups to represent fair wage...how do workers bargin with employers?
Companies are engineered and designed to make money, either for the owner or owners...and usually deals with a product of some type...
They have to make, market, and deliver that product (Hello truckers)...
So begrudgenly they have to hire 'labour'...to carry out that task...which totally complicates things for companies...
But unlike during slavery, either here or elsewhere around the world, people expect to earn a fair wage in order to 'live'...
(Not only that but if no one has money, no one can buy these products companies make)...
It's like a dicodimy...one that's to long and interesting to complete in one quick post...(and a hungry stomache)...
So I'll end it here and start anew...
