First...U4EA...I read your other thread...I'm going to leave it alone...it's classic...and stands good as is...

Second...now that I'm getting older, and more mature..(I think)...
    I wouldn't mind settling down a bit...finding a lady friend, mate...

But in this industry...that seems almost impossible...since most of the people you work around are males...older males who lack sex drive...and like to sleep...

Trucking, now days, seems to keep you away from the 'babes'...and instead places you around bearded Uncle Jessie types...

    I can't marry Uncle Jessie...nor do I want to...
Unless he was a billionare and gave me a very large allowence...:biggrin_25524:

Obviously, if and when I meet someone, it will be outside of the trucking realm...

Most people meet their mates either in school, work, or church...

Unlike trucking...many jobs have a very gender intigrated work place...so you have a chance to meet the opposite sex...

With trucking...your usually just around older hairy men, males...

I may have to start going back to church to meet a lady...clubs and bars are out...either that or online dating services...

It would be interesting to start a thread and find out where drivers met their wives or girlfriends...

As I sit around with free time, wondering what to do outside of work, and how to intigrate into different communities, I come upon different things...

One is the 'ABL' Amateur baseball league...
I played baseball long ago as a kid, was good at it, wish I had stuck with it...
And so now they have formed adult leagues for guys who like baseball, not softball, but baseball, but are never likely to make the major or minor leagues...

But who still love to compete with self and others...
These leagues are scattered throughout the states...
And I think I will join...as a way of preserving my spirit...
In the past, driving over the road would not allow for such past times...
Instead of playing baseball in the ameature league and meeting people, you'd be sitting at a rest area all alone...

Parked and or huddled on the shoulder...
How many days, weeks, months, did I waste in such an enviornment??

Sometimes I want to cry and or get mad at the years wasted...totally cut off from purseing other things that could improve my life both financially, socially and spiritually...

And now I'm paying the price...and trying to rebuild what's left of it...

And I can, if I stay focused...but it will take effort...like joining different leagues, clubs, going to events...meeting people, even volunteering...

The above image really puts over the road life into perpesctive for me...really shows how alone and desolate it can be...

But at least your warm and have a place to sleep right??

The above image just reminds me of all the lonely nights I spent out there, all the wasted nights...around zombies...emotionaless zombies, who are content with such an existance...who are happy to just pull into a rest area and go to bed...

Post sexual males...with no more interest in life, but to lay down, and shut down, like an old used vehicle...just what companies want...no rebel rowsers...just compliant road zombies...

Anyways...I want a life now...I want to be around the living...

Things, enviornments that are alive and vibrant...

    scuba diving...

I have a friend on here...who's into scuba diving...also another hobbie I always wanted to take up in the past...but do to trucking over the road scheduale, never could...again instead of exploring wonderious underwater worlds...I would be stuck at some desolate truck stop around post sexual males who think it's funny to make belching noises on the CB radio...

Again...I contrast the situations or enviornments...and want to cry sometimes...at the time wasted out there...

Not all of it was bad...I do have good memories...but remember this...

    Trucking is very selfish...

And wants you all to itself...remember that...

I could not find this thread on the 'recently posted section'...

I wonder if it's because you can't see a thread you started...or has that function been disabled just for this thread??

    I have a question?

    How do you justify 'hate'??

    How do people do it??

How do people justify hating someone they've never met before??

Humans are not angels...that's for sure...regardless of gender...

Accepting, or likeing only those who fit your template, is something even the devil does...as worded by Jesus in the new testiment...

I never follow the crowd, and never will...

    I'm better than that...

Rebel and outcast for life...till death do us part...

Met my wife going down the road in WV stopped at a rest area stood and talked with her for bout an hour, found a restraunt and ate and talked for another 2 hours, got her ## and an invite to a home cooked meal when I came thru her town in KY. Long story short, had the dinner and 58 days from meeting her, we were married. That was 20 years ago.And still with her. Who says you cant find happiness on the road.

Romance on the road...is it possible??

    Thanks for sharing that Twister73...

Romance on the road is something I've been terrible at...when I first started driving the only contact guys usually had with women were of the commercial types...and or at bars or clubs they frequented while on their journeys...

But I'm not sure if those ecounters ever blossomed into anything beyond 'flings'...or temporary 'crushes'...

It seems most female truckers I've encountered in the past fiercly want their independence...and so aren't really looking for a man to bog them down...

They, many of the single female drivers, seemed to like the 'attention' of male co-drivers, but didn't want to be bogged down with commitment...

Sometimes it can really be hard to 'read' female drivers...very hard...

They will play the fiercly independent role, but could be lonely as heck on the inside...and I guess it's the guys job, role, to probe and find out...

Encounters like yours...Twister, are very 'chance' and 'randomn'...

not planned at all, roll of the dice type of encounter, so there's no formula for it...just timeing and fate...

The dating game, and why you seek out women/men, really changes as you age...

Regardless of everything else though, lonliness seems to be the one constant to why we seek out a mate...

It's something not even God can satisfy...people need people..period...

Flesh needs flesh...at least in this realm....

    Anyways twister...thanks for posting...

I can feel the day to day stress fading....

The further I get away from a dispatch ran or run lifestyle, the more I'm able to relax...expecially as summer approaches...

In a week I'll be watching the shuttle launch...wow...

Something that would never be possible had I continued down previous path...

The way my life is now, I have more control over where I choose to be...

I just made up my mind...got tired of being dragged around by a leash...

by dispatchers who weren't interested in my well being or happiness...

It hasn't been easy, and I'm still not there yet...But it's better than it was before...

Expecially now that the weather is changing...

Each person has to follow their own path...what works for one, might not work for another...

And what works you now, might not work for you 5 years for now...

But right now, I enjoy the freedom and flexibility of being home...I love it...and still able to have a life...

I'd rather work 3 jobs, that allow me flexibility of scheduale, than one over the road job, that hogs all my time...keeps me bound inside a truck, forced to shut down for 10 hours at a cow ranch...

Over the road companies better shape up, and quit having such a plantation mentality...

Or you'll find it harder and harder to find quality drivers willing to subject themselves to such indignities and abuse...

Stop running your companies, and treating drivers like it's 1842....

If not, you'll have a bunch of empty trucks sitting in your yard...

Expecially when you run out of the current generation of old dog drivers...

The younger generation is 'spoiled' and wants more...they want comfort and convience and a life...

And I really can't blame them for that...

They want this thread to die, and whisper about me behind the scenes...but has that ever stopped me before??

My existance and purpose is not determined by anyones like or dislike of me...

Souls like mine are rare, are tough, determined...and are destined for more...

disable this, disable that...but I still continue on...
