It's sad what I see out here now...I'm forced to work around middle aged and older, men, males, who have been robbed of their sexual flair and essence...

It's as if they're both emotionally and sexually castrated....

They've been so conditioned to ignore, neglect, their own development, for their wives or girlfriends, that now they have become very generic, Homer Simpson like drones...

who's only purpose is to on que, tell their wives and girlfriends how beautiful they look...

Well what happens when their wives leave them when they're 45-60?...then what? what are they left with?

No clue on style, how to match clothes...just a generic drone male who doesn't know how to groom themself or operate without wife, girlfriend or mother there to do it for them...

    It's kind of sad actually...

You can always tell single guys, vs married ones...

Single males are still emotionally alive...

The most enjoyable part of this job to me is the beggining and the end...

    Why?
Cause that's when I'm working around others...

I find there to be something spiritual, or just a bonding effect, that you get when you work in co-operation with others to get a task done...

At the beggining of the trip, the shop helps me prepare load...lots of interaction...
And at the end of the trip...I'm assisted by a crew of men, who are eager to get the job done...and sometimes we work together...it's fun...
Even though we don't know each other...working together towards the same goal, having the same drive, just does something for ya...

Many of the males who greet me on the West Coast side of the trip are hispanic...and they have a great work ethic...they like to 'get the job done'...no slouching or anything...
    And they're nice...and sometimes funny...

East coast it's a mixed bag...but I do notice...on the East...you have more 'deadlines'...like if your not there by 5pm type of stuff...
The Hispanics are just happy to work, and will unload you anytime...at least thus far...

But when I'm dealing with regular blck/wht citizens on the East...the attitude seems to be more snobby...like 'Hey, why are you late?' type stuff...

I love working with and around people...I only wish I could find a job that combined both good pay, and the much needed social element...

I do have a question for you "Compadre",and I am NOT attacking..I am wondering why,(and I am one)you seem to pick on the middle-aged truck driver's..:biggrin_2556:

From someone who has many unique and valid insights,I cannot understand how you seem to "dump us" all into one category..

Certainly,YOU cannot be far away from also being "middle-aged"...(If you are)even in your early 30's,you are closer than you think...:biggrin_25523:

I finally get a bit of time to just 'sit'...wow...I'm wore out...
Driving takes more out of you than most think, who've never driven...

There's so much you got to do right, to not get in an accident or injure others...
And you got to drive through multiple metro areas in a day...often metropolitan areas can stretch on for 30-50 miles...30-50 miles of pure concentration, 3-8 lanes...

Constant changing traffic patters...and cars driving around you like knats...

It takes it's toll after 300-700 miles in a day...it can and really does at times...and at the end of your shift, when you park...your like jello...and just want to collapse...

It's accumilative type of wore out...rooted in your mind...the high level of concentration all day...added with not much movement...and sometimes discomfort...topped off with meals that aren't always healthy for you, and that do not contain the vitamins and minerals to replenish the body and mind...

Then add on top of that 'stress'...stress your dispatcher may put on you...

    'Load must be there now!'....

And your wore out, maybe have early signs of the flu...

Mood of mind, really has a lot to do with how far you drive in a day...sometimes you just feel like stopping and getting out of truck every 30 miles...other times you may only stop once, in a 500 mile trip...

Lot's of variables...keeping the mind busy is key...if you don't, time will lag...
And you'll start counting mile markers the way some count sheep in order to sleep...

    mm 16...and you've got 328 to go....

Anyhow...I'm going to enjoy this down time until the morning...just going to lay back...
    I'm at a rather large truck stop...or I should say...parking area...

A bit more lively than most...you can usually measure that by how much radio chatter is going on, and how many vendors are on 19 trying to sell stuff...

    Back soon...

    This totally deserves an answer...

And I'll try my best to explain....

It's not the physical age nor body of middle age I resent...
    It's a certain 'mindset'.....

(I'm wore out right now...might have to continue this later)

I have to continue this one later...
But before I get some rest...

You should know by now that whatever I write...yourself, U4EA, and Zeb(can't spell the rest)...are exempt...

I'm to wore out to explain...let me put it like this though...

If you were here with me right now, we'd go play catch baseball or Frisbee or just have a meal and talk about life...and I would thoroughly enjoy myself...

Please realize it's not the physical I'm refering to...

My writing is very abstract...layered....and is what gives it longevity, cause it can be interpited in so many ways, by the same person, just depending on what mood they're in...or what they're going through in life...

Believe me you..if you were here, I'd give you a big fat hug, and wouldnt let go...then you'd get mad, and throw me to the ground...and then we'd both start laughing...

I love rough housing...(sorry, could only find two females for the illustration)..I guess you'd be the one with the purple hair...

Anyhow...please don't take anything I write or express on here to be personal...your exempt from whatever i write...

Need to rest the mind...back soon...

    U4EA Thanks this.

The stressful traffic makes me overwired.... (not sure this word exists...) At the end of a 10 or 11 hr shift driving, I stay hyper for about 2 hrs.... Even if I am exhausted, I just can't fall asleep right away. Driving excites me.... Sometimes it's more exciting than sex! :yes2557:

Wow...i was really spent...laid down after posting that last one to 'B'...and was like out...just laid there all night...and morning...and had deep dreams...and time just stood still...

Never been that spent before...maybe I'm the one getting old....

But on the way out here...or yesterday, I excercised, ran up a trail...multiple times...that plus regular driving...equals you must get rest to recover...

I'm going to start taking vitamins also...regular meals out here just don't have the daily nutritional value...
It can be like eating unutitional mush...the kind they serve in work camps...with just enough nutrition to keep you breathing...but not to replinish and revive...

Need to find a GNC nutritional center...

Anyhow...it's dark out...time to get up...reality is here...

(thinking about you, up there in Hurricane territory...read where the worst of it hit Vermont)...
