Simon, how much does Frito Lay pay? Those miles are great! Is that one full pay period? If so, that’s 4,282.3 on one check!

You got me mixed with a different poster I have never driven for Frito lay just FAK at the time of that log and some hzmat I got .50 cpm for that mileage as a 1099 driver there was a 3175 mile load partially involved with that log view.

65 cpm ain’t too shabby, no matter the miles. The problem I’ve come across with a 75 mph truck is that you don’t always get 815 miles per day, five days per week. Plenty of 3,200 and 3,400 mile weeks, but hardly ever a solid month of 4,000+ mile weeks.

I’m in a 68 mph truck now, higher pay, all drop and hook, and the highest week I’ve ever achieved within the past 18 months is a little over 3,700 miles. That’s isn’t every week, either. More like two, maybe three times a year. Mostly 3,200 mile weeks.

Which companies are giving out miles like that?

Freight All Kindss.....which can be commonly found as an abbreviation on bills of lading in reference to ordinary and usual non ag commodity or non declaratory freight non hazmat non customs etc.
Just usual goods or merchandise that is of no real concern to customs or inspection or safety dot officials....
When you cross interstate lines and go through a weigh or inspection station they ask you sometimes what your freight is FAK is just a quick way to tell them it isnt any classification of concern.
Sometimes you might not ever know what your freight is because it isn't listed on the bol and there is no accompanying packing listing....
And the bill just says FAK.
The reason for not listing can be proprietary protection also....
I have told officials " I don't know....it's just FAK as far as the bill says".....lol
Or your guess is as good as mine.....lol
Its more time effective to not obstruct traffic flow than official having to read every bol to determine freight content....
When you haul other declaratory or hazmat you are being paid or required by reg. To know what your freight is so you need to give an accurate description...of course with reefer you have to know what your required temp range is supposed to be which should also be on the bol but sometimes isnt....
Some hazmat has to be hauled reefer for stability.
Many loads I have hauled never listed more than FAK so I never knew or cared to because it just didnt matter.
When you look on fmcsa company snapshot it shows what a companies authority to transport allows....
Common household goods is the broad FAK category basically.....
    Hope that helps to clarify.

Yah.....exactly thats the problem freight markets and rates constantly fluctuate.....so mileage fluctuates with markets broker whims and other economical mechanisms.
And you're right Ideal max. Miles can't be consistently realized.....running drophook turn & burns in the west not going into CA OR WA....would come closest to it....if and when common delays arent encountered.....
Regardless of what rate a driver negotiates I firmly believe he should be guaranteed 3K mile a wk min.....which is only 5x600 or 6x500.....otherwise you are just open to subjection to lazy dispatching not motivated to keep you moving.....150 for a layover is just a 200 loss in my opinion....but....ya know better than nothing.....
Rates....for top company drivers are at a ceiling around 55-60 to start....
Bar none advertises 55 and generous bennies....
1099....rates are averaging 60-65 advertised but many will try to low ball chump change you down to 55.
Last 1099 I was at I was getting 60.....but needed to because they promised 3K Mile wkly but only delivered ....2600 avg....3 mo. and 2900 avg one mo.....
    Never delivered ....3K
If you are comfortable with your rate and have consistent drophook mileage I would stay there considering the current instability of the markets.
The thing is you need 1 of three things basically....
    1.consistent drophooks
    2. A dedicated lane that has adequate mileage.
    3. Or if you are just running otr wild from only loadboards you have to have a MOTIVATED DISPATCH THAT DELIVER!
My bad experience has been with lazy 9-5r's that r done with you at 1600 friday and don't care if they can't or won't find you a load with more than 900 mile to carry you till a required monday am live unload then don't produce another load till 1300....
    To me its just Derelict!
It just pmo.....I'm 60 and can drive 4K every wk w/o batting an eye....6-8 hrs of sleep between and 8th day for rest is plenty to me.
I don't need mandatory wkly resets and was trained to and have run off recap many miles/weeks.....
I can pick my nose while I drive....it doesn't take all weekend just because I have a lazy derelict dispatch that has no accounts or planning skills to back up loads to keep me moving.....
Ya.....know....just get me 3 X 1300 mile loads a week somehow.....but they go after chump change 500 mile a day loads and to many lives with to much live scheduling delays....
If I complain they are killing me....sitting to much....then I'm just rocking the boat making waves and upsettlling their perfect little derelict apple cart ya know.....
I just can't sit and chomp the bit listening to noisy reefers apus and loud idling.....I sleep at rest areas and consignees whenever possible or an unusual place.....
Every time you go in a stop its anyones guess when you will wake up w/o your mirrors....or worse maybe!
My work record looks horrible because of derelict and or hostile dispatch/mngmnt....
I'm not willing to tolerate low mileage dereliction or bs disrespect getting run down on me and jerked around sitting all for chump change....or being stuck in the slow lane infinitely just to have a pathetic paycheck because of hostile lazy derelicts....
If I am expected to produce then it should be mutual!
    OR SHAME BE ON THEM!
Because as you see I produce when allowed and my safety record is spotless in a 75 mph fast lane truck. ..SO....THE GOV. & INS. and transport companies are just DELUSIONAL.....I see it opposite than they do....
All the slow trucks are causing jambs and delays there is to many....
I run the fast lane if someone comes up faster I move over and let them go by w/o slowing and delaying them.....
Heck....I love a faster front door....that I can run off their brake lights because if the speed limit is 70 mph.... my cruise is set at 74 if it can be.....I haven't driven cdl 45 yrs....but I have driven 4 mph over the limit for 45 yrs....and never been ticketed or caused an accident.
Excepting school and construction zones of course.
Its just derelict stupid to me....if a driver can be competent to operate a 80K lb missile....then at his discretion he should be competent to run 75....if not then....imo....he isn't competent to operate at ALL!.....ya know ....either you can maintain or you can't. ...either your focused able and capable or your not....
Of course mileage experience hones ability and trainee's should be limited....
And everybody has bad days and makes a mistake once in awhile....
But after about three yrs if you don't know your own personal ability limitations and or that of the equipment you operate. Then your judgment may never be competent.
I have seen drivers claiming 20 yr exp.....that had lousy judgment and couldn't even back anything unfortunately.
Sit and watch people in stops approach parking spaces incorrectly and turn a straight or offset back into a 90 ally dock....lol and spend 45 mins. doing it with two people directing and spotting them.
I drove team one month with a guy that claimed 20 yrs exp.....and he had the communist "STAY TO THE RIGHT BRAIN WASHING" so bad in jambs he would ride there and sit there and curse everyone coming on the entry saying he wanted to kill them!
When the second and third lanes were moving and not restricted.....?
    Some drivers have tunnel vision.....
I have driven all the way through Atlanta when it was jamming up in 30 mins.
Can't do it every time but I position myself according to what I see a half or more mile ahead of me....and constantly adjust according to other traffic speed....
Some drive like livestock or sheep to slaughter....
Come up on a three mile long one lane bottleneck and just get in the end of line with rest before merge signs are in sight....
Sorry....not me I won't merge till the sign is in sight at least and if its a dead stop I may run right up to the merge and politely sit there with my directional on not crowding and wait till somebody signals me over....and I let others go in front of me when needed.
Automatics are dangerous also....load them up and they can't enter the hwy at legal min. speed.
There seems to be a lot of delusional parties exercising to much illogical control over power unit operation that produces the opposite effect than is intended.....slower creates hazards it doesn't eliminate them.....some yrs back people in TX used to drive 85 mph bumper 2 bumper in pounding rain on all the interstates regardless of the limit.....lol....and didn't crash. But people in LA and Chicago can't drive 45 w/o crashing.
Some cities don't crash a lot but they drive like in a zombie trance like they have till the next day to commute home.
