Traditionally in the USA Daytons were an east coast thing, Budds were a west coast thing. Mack and AutoCar both had “west coasters” which were forward steer axle, long hoods and long wb’s. Both had Budd’s. Arguably spokes were heavier duty back then and always came spec’d on heavier suspensions. West coast trucks built for heavy spec with walking beam or Mack camal backs always had spokes. Mack did supply rears to other makes back then.
