Better pay twenty years ago, expenses also half what they are now. And people treated working class much better back then. Now truckers are one of the lowest paid considering the amount of responsibility and hours we do for free.Still better than many other jobs but nonetheless lower pay than we deserve

Trucks are better now, some of the roads are better. The regulatory burden is absolutely ridiculous. Thanks to our fearless leaders our wages have stayed the same for 25 years, all in the name of competition being good for the consumer.

1 very key thing that was within reason was "budgeting".. It was easier to do then as opposed to today.(Parts,Tires,Oil,Insurance, etc)...Cant do that today because the way society has structured itself its hard to squeeze a nickel out of anything. Basically...Hard to find a 'GOOD DEAL' anymore.

Secondly.......2/3rds less traffic before,Now Ive seen these interstates go from 4 lane (2 in each direction) to Whatever they can build now.. Flyover ramps are going up like crazy..Bridges are taller, Traffic is crazy.
Trucks seem to have become more comfy..Although i'll never know that,Just what I see.

Another key ingredient I see,Truck Drivers (in General) Don't have the time anymore..No time to sit back and have a drink with someone..No time to Help someone else who is having difficulty doing something, Always in a hurry to go.

Last but certainly not least.(.I have so much more I could say)

Truck Drivers today cant say "NO"...They simply cant. Whether its good or bad, They Cannot say "No" to anything..... They Lack Backbone and knowledge of what's right.

And to say I started in 1989...........Im sure there are a few out there well before me.
