Sometimes the heavy truck traffic causes the shoulder to get soft and corrode, so instead of sending a letter to every CDL holder, the governor opts to put up signs instead. Either way, truck drivers aren't going to pay attention, and when they cause death/damage they or their companies never want to pony up the dough to pay for it.

Isn't that what road repair is for? What, can they only afford signs?

School zones and construction zones I refuse to speed in. I always get passed in both by big trucks. Makes me wonder if the reason they do this is because that is the only time they can pass someone...soon as we get out of the zones I end up flying by them again. And then when things like this happen they scratch their heads and look for someone else to blame.

That's outside the road surface. It sounds like they're saying the road foundation is compromised.

Count me in...as in one of the drivers that runs the left lane like a good boy.

It's already a construction zone, they probably would rather not close another lane just to throw down some temporary repair material. At least that would be my guess.

In the 1990s(?) I-40 between Memphis & LR had signs saying something like trucks are encouraged to use the left lane to equalize pavement wear
Our local school zone always has at least 2 marked police cars with all emergency lights activated sitting in plain view & yet everyday they stop a few cars for speeding in the school zone. The school zone is only 1 block long but these idiots cant slow down to keep the kids safe.

I always slow down to 2mph over in construction zones, mainly to annoy people and to wreck havoc with the stereotype that all slow trucks run pedal to the medal everywhere.
Everybody passes me, cars, trucks, the military, school buses, and every type of big truck.

Husband is a new driver and when he was out with his trainer, he got cussed out up one side and down the other over the cb for doing the speed limit in a construction zone. He got on the cb and told him that he would be the one to have to pay the ticket so he was going to go the speed limit and the jerk could just get over it.
