    As to the child, I can only link to an often misinterpreted 392.60.

    §392.60 Unauthorized persons not to be transported.
    (a) Unless specifically authorized in writing to do so by the motor carrier under whose authority the commercial motor vehicle is being operated, no driver shall transport any person or permit any person to be transported on any commercial motor vehicle other than a bus. When such authorization is issued, it shall state the name of the person to be transported, the points where the transportation is to begin and end, and the date upon which such authority expires. No written authorization, however, shall be necessary for the transportation of:
    (1) Employees or other persons assigned to a commercial motor vehicle by a motor carrier;
    (2) Any person transported when aid is being rendered in case of an accident or other emergency;
    (3) An attendant delegated to care for livestock.
    (b) This section shall not apply to the operation of commercial motor vehicles controlled and operated by any farmer and used in the transportation of agricultural commodities or products thereof from his/her farm or in the transportation of supplies to his/her farm.

    If you take a child one of two things MUST be true!
    1. You have the permission of the Authority Holder (NOT the Owner)!
    2. You are running your own numbers!

    One time in college we fit nine young adults in a Chevy Nova. I was the one laying across the rear window's equivalent of the dash, facing backwards and serving as the rearview, with my feet sticking out the rear side window. Four sitting across the back seat, with another laying across their laps with her feet sticking out the other rear side window. Three across the front seat including the driver. Old school style bench seat, of course. We got followed by a cop for several blocks but he didn't do anything. Must have been quite a sight though.

    Relevant? Not at all. Worth mentioning anyway? Most definitely.

    Edit: on second thought, since we did make it work, maybe it's somehow relevant after all.

    Six football players stuffed in a Formula Firebird skipping school. Got pulled over by a cop. Ticket? Nope. He called the football coach. Bad things happened for the next two weeks.

    ARI sleeper, too heavy for reefer loads. Kids/babies being raised in a truck ? I vote no. Thinking back when I grew up, I couldn't imagine being raised in a %#$@ truck beating the highways of this country. I know, I know, people will say they grew up in a truck...good for them. I think kids deserve a solid base for their upbringing. :3some: :argue:

    I don’t get it either but the sleepers are not light, even though there are composites being used with some apartment builders.
    As for kids traveling in a truck, I’m against it.

    Chinatown Thanks this.
