    Hey guys,

It's been awhile. I have a couple questions. I selected and interviewed an accountant, but you know how you men are. You don't like to listen to your wives. My husband who is an O/O chose to complete his 2018 taxes using tubro tax instead of our certified accountant. Is this wise? What has been some of your experiences with TurboTax?

Maybe, have to look at the tax return but it would be wise to take advantage of the tax law changes.

Turbo tax is actually pretty good at walking you through it. As long as he was honest and accurate with the numbers he put in then he’ll be ok. I’d advise using the accountant next year though.

Not a chance I would use Turbo tax for my taxes. My tax guy charges me $100 and worth every penny. Been going to him for 15 years, so long his grandson is taking over.

Turbotax works well as long as you buy the right version which is the business version. You also need to read carefully their questions. It's all about paying close attention and knowing what is deductible and what is not. Also, I would recommend their tax audit protection for 60 dollars.

    Midwest Trucker Thanks this.

As a company driver I always used it. As an O/O, nope. I have a deep fear of guys named Bubba in striped suits.

I do know a CPA who uses it to reduce her work on her personal filings. So I guess it is possible???

    Company driver - every year.
    Owner Operator - no.

CPA costs us $1500 odd, takes care of the whole lot.

Taxes aren't that hard nowadays..I use taxslayer which is about the same thing. Been doing my own now for about 15 years 5 years of that was when I owned a business. I am not an o/o but a company driver and it works fine for me. I used turbo tax once but like taxslayer better. As long as you know what you can deduct, which is not hard to figure out with a little research, its easy. I got audited 20 years ago when I had an accountant so I trust myself to do it now more than someone else.

I had my own truck for 10 years and always paid a CPA to do my taxes. Now I'm back driving a company truck and did them myself this year. They simple if you just a W-2. I wouls still pay someone if I was an O/O.

I hope he claimed Per Diem and the new like 20k deduction
