only truck i have seen with signal alert is a volvo
you will get used to it--just part of the job
look at your dash---big green arrow flashing on there as well -
A good way to keep from doing this is don't take your hand off the turn signal until you are done. One of the worst things you can do is leave a turn signal on. A four wheeler might think you are turning and pull out in front of you.

Had a friend that had the same trouble.
He took 2 rectangular clearance lights ,mounted to the dash and wired into his turn signals. They were alot brighter than the indicator so he didn`t have anymore trouble forgetting to turn them off.lowney4 Thanks this. -
i drove a couple brand new frieghtliners that were pretty loud AND self canceled!
but yeah you will will just get used to it, i had the same problem.lowney4 Thanks this. -
OK, OK, yes I'm a smart arse. Can't help it. The fact is that most of us at one time or another forget to turn them off. And as was pointed out, it sure can cause an accident. Not to mention confusion and frustration. I'm not a big fan of keeping my hand on the turn signal, as I like to keep both hands on the wheel, particularly when turning.
This is a habit that you have to form. And just like any habit, once you do have it formed, it will become second nature. But until you get there, every time you touch that turn signal, tell yourself "Remember to turn it off!"ky wildcat 4ever and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
You can make it a habit to turn them on and off.
You should be scanning your mirrors and dash regularly.
Here's one at JC Whitney, they have a quieter one too.

I had a truck that had self canceling turn signals and I hated that they always seemed to shut off before I wanted them too. Now I have a truck that will blink forever and I hate it lol.

If you are checking the dash every minute or less like you are supposed to you won't make the mistake.
Saying that, I have the same problem at times. -
On the freighshaker I used to drive, if you had to signal on for more than I think 2 minutes it would make a really loud alarm sound. Our mixers all have self cancelling signals which is nice, but would be a pain in a regular tractor trailer cause it would keep shutting off before you wanted it to.
