    This !!!!

Well, what can I say, that you havent already seen.

Check this tie rod....I don't think it should look like that

Cracked spindle, bent tie rods, bent frame, cosmetic damage, cuts in the tire, crack in the axle, at least a week down....

That was a rude wake-up, felt like an earthquake. To drivers credit, he was wery apologetic, didn't try to run or leave the scene of accident. You could see that he was realy sorry about what happened. I acctualy felt sorry for him, couldn't even get mad at that driver.
New driver, sent on the road without a propper training, and, IMO, accident waiting to happen.

    Just another Swift move....

I took a :Plane: home yesterday (March 14):smt041, 4 1/2 hours to Atlanta, GA, waited for 2 1/2 hours, got on the plane to Buffalo.

We were on the runway, gaining speed for takeoff, when, all of a sudden, it abruptly stopped...:biggrin_25512:

Captain came on the speaker, and informed us that there is something wrong with a plane, and we have to take another one :biggrin_2552:

Boy, was I glad he told us that while we were on the ground :biggrin_25525:

Oh, and a little background on this trip from hell :smt096:smt096:smt096:smt096

On the way to Portland, OR, truck broke down just past Sidney, NE. It was just a leveling valve, so, no big deal, right?

    WRONG !!!!

Closest place that could fix it was Cheyenne, WY. I didn't want to leave the trailer on the side of the road, so I called a tow truck to take a trailer, and I can bobtail to TA. $3 per mile, 200 miles round trip, Cheyenne - Sidney - Cheyenne.....$600 for pulling a trailer 100 miles:smt068:smt067:smt070:smt071

At the TA, disaster area....There was me and one more truck at the shop, changing ONE tire. Should be quick, since it was only a tire change, and they had a valve for me, right?

    WRONG !!!!

They only had ONE 24" tire for the other guy, and it had rust, so they couldn't inflate it....3 hours until they finished.
So, it's my turn now. Just a leveling valve, 2 bolts holding it to the bracket, 3 hoses, easy job, right?

    WRONG !!!!

Turns out, they don't have a leveling valve in stock, but they have a valve for a trailer. Just a little modification, and it should work. 3 hours later (6 since I got there), I am on my merry way to Oregon.

Since I left with about 15 hours to spare, I still have plenty of time to make it on tome for delivery, right?

    WRONG !!!!

    Cabbage westbound is CLOSED !!!!

OK, nothing I can do, so I go to sleep, put my phone to wake me up every hour, so I can check online for road conditions. 3 Hours later, message changes to "carry chains", so no chain-up going over Cabbage. I still have an hour to spare, and if I step on it, I will probably make it 1 1/2 hours early to make it on time for delivery, right?

    WRONG !!!!

Once I made it to the top (Deadman Pass), it started snowing hard again, and the troopers were making everybody chain-up.

Made it to delivery 45 minutes late, and I was turned away (Safeway DC).

Talking about bad luck the whole trip :biggrin_2552::biggrin_2552::biggrin_2552:

    Joys of trucking.....

Hey, I made it home, so I dont think it was a Swiftie....

    Hopefully

And, just to make it clear....I DO NOT blame the driver for this.
I blame Swift for letting him go single with almost no training.

Did you have to pay the $600 towing fee out of your pocket?

Yes, but Swift reimbursed me for everything, even airplane tickets and downtime. It was $125 per day, but better than nothing. Repair bill was a little over $14000, plus I got a check for around $4000 in the mail for hotel, downtime and plane tickets...

Best part....no problems whatsoever. Sent them all the invoices, days that I didn't work, and they sent me a check. 100% paid, no questions asked...
