Unable to get home for doctor appointment 3 times

I would drop their name in the " Report a bad company thread " just so others

who may have medical needs knows about them

( Where i work they are REQUIRED to get you home if you need Dr's care )
It really should be a law

 

I would disagree with you. O/O, L/P or company driver, you should be able to work with the appropreate people to make a scheduled appointment. With only one company did I have any problem getting to scheduled appointments, I also no longer work there. A particular DM had a personal policy that he would decide your home time. Shortly after I left, I was told they fired him due to high driver disatisfaction and turn over.

I know a number of O/O and L/P people at a wide variety of companies. None of them seem to have any problems getting in for any reason.

Just MHO that as an O/O, if you can't make a medical appointment because you need the revenue, then you may have other problems that need to be addressed.

 

My problem exists with having to schedule medical appointments 3-6 weeks out. If something comes up that week, I'm not going to blow off the work for the sake of the appointment.

 

If I understand your posting, you are willing to forego a medical appointment in order to chase a dollar?

Revenue is more important than your health?

IMHO, that is a very bad choice to make.

 

As far as Doctor appts go, unless it is an emergency, you have made the appt weeks if not months ahead of time. Depending on how long your normal work cycle is, 2, 3, 4 5,or 6 weeks out, tell your driver manager well in advance of the week of the appt. With some advance planning, you will be able to make those appts. Waiting until the week of the scheduled appt may not allow the manager time to find loads that get you home in time.

 

Let's just forget this one - it's off topic anyhow, but you're missing my point completely.

 

Truck drivers going to the doctor? Everyone knows truck drivers don't go to the doctor. They eat lots of bacon and eggs for breakfast until their veins fill up with grease. Then their heart pops while they're doing 70 mph, off the road, into the trees, passing on the legacy to another generation.

Doctors... pffft!

Every one of my posts contains the US Recommended Daily Allowance of grease, cholesterol and sarcasm. There is no need to take any supplements as long as you read all my posts.
