Hello ya'll, I start trucking school september 3rd. I am looking at trucking companies that hire recent grads. My heart is set on crete but I am exploring all my options. I would like to know the good and the bad about US xpress. Thank you

Crete would be better than USX and here's why. Crete also has reefer(Shaffer) and flatbed(Hunt). If you get burned out on dry van you can switch to reefer or flatbed, within the Crete family.
Also, for more better paying options, get a passport, TWIC, and tanker/hazmat endorsements.JNaum Thanks this. -

Not sure why someone would say shy away from USX but not Crete. They are similar.
I wouldn't work for Crete because their trucks are governed at 62, but that's just a personal preference.
I have no problems with USX. Never worked for Crete so I can't really comment on them. -
I've just finished driving school; got my CDL with Hazmat, and am looking at US Xpress as a first start in the industry. I've been looking over the many threads on orientation and think I'm good, but still, I'm nervous. I'm just wondering about the agility tests in greater detail. Mostly, I want to do a dry run or two of the testing here before I ship out to orientation. I know there's some lifting of a 75lb weight, walking with the weight and something about pushing 100lbs and duck walking under a table. Does anyone have details on these tests? Like how low the table is? the only reason I ask is that I'm 6ft 5in tall and the recruiter told me I might have trouble getting low enough to pass. I'd hate to go through a 4-hour trip to Shippensburg to get sent home because I can't waddle like a sumo wrestler with my balls on the floor. I have a few weeks to practice, but need to know what to practice exactly.

The table at the Markham terminal was pretty tall. All you have to do is touch the wall when you get under the table. Since you're so tall.... your arm will prob reach without having to get under the table much.
In all honestly, the tests were simple. Seemed like they did it to say they did it for insurance purposes.
Good luck !Chopper1776 Thanks this. -
USX does reefer. It's mostly west coast to east coast runs for teams. It'll get you a lot of miles.

Do dedicated accounts also issue you routing info? At Werner, its take whatever way you need to. They wont be held responsible for it haha.

All I know is that USX sure likes to advertise. Just look on Craig's List. Can you say over advertise?
