Last I heard the cap was .42. But that is not in stone anyplace and I believe there are some lifers here that top that. I haven't been here long enough to hit that but am close. My issue is nobody is increasing cpm, but everybody is decreasing miles. YET, cost of living continues to rise.
Just wait until they open the southern border to the mexican companies and see where the cpm goes. Its sad now that the economy is so bad here drivers are willing to put up with the crappy pay everywhere. It will be worse then.
And don't start yanking everyones chain about companies like heartless paying .50 cpm. there are too many ifs to that to make it real. Besides, .50 cpm should be starting pay for a good student, not top pay for any company driver.

Does USA Truck get it? They haven't in the past. Worked there two years. Original post is pretty accurate. Dispatchers seem to sincerely like there drivers. That's one vote for. Load planners don't seem to care at all about getting drivers miles or home. That's one vote against. The safety girls are all local with zero experience in trucking other than their time at USA Truck. The only requirement seems to be, "do you hate truck drivers?" I remember that Tonya girl. You could see her get visibly upset if the Safety Director agreed with the driver. What a hateful woman. That's two votes against, one for safety and one for her. Then there are the mechanics. They give Tonya a run for her money. Must be related. That's another against. So I say 4 against and 1 for USA Truck getting it. I cut my teeth there and at 25 plan to stay where I am for a long time.

I was thinking the same thing...and those are paid miles-you had better tack on another 4% to account for the normal unpaid miles. It stinks to high he!! and doesn't sound like OTR with USA when their own press releases are stating that the average tractor is getting 1800-1900 miles a week, maybe some of those miles carried over from the previous week? I had a diesel bear in Wisconsin tell me once that anything over 3500 miles in a week would automatically get a driver an in-depth log audit in that state during what would otherwise be a routine DOT. That DOT man was a truck driver prior to becoming a law man.

Another topic...I finally made money off of USA truck (although I don't work for them anymore), after I started with another company I invested $1000 in USA stock when it was in the $2 range, I sold that stock last week and almost tripled my money. Doesn't make sense, though, since they still haven't turned a profit. Absolutely no regrets with leaving...the best weeks that I ever had with USA are considered down weeks where I'm at now.

This is a typical week for me at USA Truck after all deductions and 6.5% for the 401K.

i get an average of 2700 to 3000 a week. You might want to get a new FM or DM what ever they are calling themselves this week. tell them to give you more mile or just park the truck you will either get more miles or work for a different company to work for. not to call you out or anything but with 22 years in the bushiness you should be able to work anywhere

Much respect!, DGStrong71. Whatever you're doing right keep doing it, I couldn't consistently make good money with USA and I did everything that was asked of me for as long as I could. I would have a good week like that about every 6 weeks, which isn't good at all when averaged out. More power to the ones that can make it work right for themselves. I'm about 50/50 on USA, on one hand I'm grateful that they gave me an opportunity, on the other in hindsight I wish that I had done my homework on trucking before I got into it and started with the company that I'm at now. FOR ME....the difference is night and day, for 3 months I haven't had a paycheck less than $1200/week. At USA, a $1200 paycheck was maybe every 3 months for me. No hatin', though, you must have gotten a good FM.

I know USA has their issues and they do have a lot of bozos working in corporate and dispatch but I have done well here as well as many of the other drivers. Whenever I have to deal with one of USA's bozos I just deal with them knowing that they are just another employee of the company and are no better or worse than me. I dont let bozos effect my attitude or decide things for me. You will have to deal with bozos everywhere you work.

Wow, I began this post speaking on behalf of mostly "old school" drivers from any company and included some specifics about USA Truck. Many of the replies were irrelevant and many jumped to conclusions about me based on absolutely nothing. So let me try again.

First, whether you run outlaw with two log books for a mom and pop company or you at a place like Schneider, Swift, JB, Heartland, etc., you should want as many miles as possible. I would think the vast majority of you agree with that.

Second, even though we "old schoolers" would rather stay out a month or two, when it's time to get home we want to be there on time. I would think the vast majority of you agree with that.

Now to touch on a common theme from the replies.

USA Truck is a bottom feeder. Yes, they hire many students and drivers that drove for other companies but don't have much experience. But that's been there niche for years. If it weren't for companies like USA Truck, where would all of you with experience have gotten your experience.

Remember the title of the post is, "USA Truck Doesn't Get It". Other than the dispatchers, most of the employees don't seem to get it and most don't have any idea what our life on the road is like. USA has some good drivers and some good dispatchers, they just need to listen to them. I believe the new CEO wants to change there niche from hiring inexperienced drivers and churning them to hiring better, safer drivers and keeping them. We were a good company years ago but I believe Mr. Simone is going to change us to a totally different company than we have ever been and we will be better than we have ever been.

Still no specifics on what they don't get. You say you stay out a month or two at a time, get home late and don't get any miles. Well, I stay out 5 weeks at a time and have to run the log book through the squeeze machine every day to be able to run all the miles I'm getting and I'm always home on-time.
