I think DOT needs to crack down on the grocers and other places that take 6 or more hours to unload, ultimately it is us drivers that are going to get fined for the HOS violations even though the lumpers ran us over our hours.

I do get detention after 6hrs and do log sleeper. And as lobg as I get 8hrs sleeper I can split the time. But that's confusing as hell. I try not to do that as I'm still not 100% on split sleeper.

who wants to log a break at a customer?do they provide you a restroom to urinate or deficate? If they don't where do you do these two bodily functions? In a bottle? On the ground? In a plastic bag?Do these customers provide showers?I highly doubt it.I have worked here 6 years next month and never taken a ten hour break at a customer one time nor will i.

USA logging dept doesn't allow split sleeper anyway because too many people don't understand it. Including them.

I take breaks at customers location all the time. Its a lot more efficient and eliminates a lot of wasted hours looking for a place to park. Restrooms?? I take it you've never gone camping? What do you do in the woods? Showers? No one is ever guaranteed a shower when they wake up in this job. Sometimes you have to wait until that truckstop comes along, other times you just clean up in/around the truck.

If you choose to drive to a truck stop after spending 8 or 9 hours at a shipper instead of finishing off your 10 hour break there, then you must have money to blow. Let me make it easy on you and just have you send it to me.

i always try to do that as much as I can. Like in another thread I always try to stay at Budweiser in baldwinsville when I'm live loaded so I can leave out all that much sooner in the morning and not trying to fight that small pilot. Anytime I'm more than halfway past my clock and getting loaded I always ask if its a possibility that when I'm finished if I can stay on property. Then my clock stopped for the day as soon as I bumped the dock!!!

How does the waiting with the trucking company relate to your disdain for DS?

I've put in for detention pay several times. I've only received it once. Even after being told that I would receive it. Longest I've waited so far was from 6 in the morning until almost 11 that night. Waiting on the mail.
