Such as? You really didn't say much.
I know if you don't have "recent" OTR experience in a class A truck they will send you out with a trainer for a minimum of 2 weeks for evaluation and refreshing your driving habits. They call these advanced students.

I have my CDL, but sadly no experience. I completed the CDL course in 2011, but haven't attained any OTR experience since then. I plan on pursuing a job with a local company in the near future, but wasn't sure if I would be required to pay additional costs for the course.

I can't speak for all the companies but from what I know about USA you will be set up with a trainer or 2 for a minimum of 175 hours. There is no cost for this, in fact they pay you a flat rate during that time. I assume you can pass some of the test they will give you during orientation covering HOS, and other safety/federal regulations. But you best bet is to talk to recruiting for the most current info. Ask about current hiring bonuses too.

Getting your CDL in 2011 and not having any experience with it, I am 90% sure you will have to go to their school in order to work for USA. That means either paying nothing up front and signing a year contract with a weekly deduction to pay or you pay upfront and have no commitment. After completing their school and finish orientation you will have to complete their driver training program where you are out on the road with a trainer.

Thanks for the information. I'm not sure if the additional cost is worth the effort to continue pursuing this career. Anyway, I'll call their (USA Truck) recruiters to find more information.
