Well I did this....and it's finally behind me. I'm going to take a minute of your time and maybe save you some grief.
I've been ATT forever. Uverse, Internet, cells ( 4 at one point ) and I've paid some hefty combined bills like over $600 in some cases so I decided to break up the monopoly. Get better eyes on where my dollars were going so last December I did the Verizon $650 per line to switch over. ( 2 lines ) I expect $1300 to land in my hands sooner or later to pay off my ATT iron.....it's what I was told.
Here's what really happened:
All in all this was a huge hassle and I regret switching. Their program is designed to be vague and try and force you to spend the cards at a store. They also told me not to worry about paying off ATT, they would understand completely because everyone is switching and waiting for payments to arrive. Yeah right, ATT threatened to cut the rest of my services and refer to collection if I didn't write them a check for the phones I sent to VZW for trade. I'm luck I had free cash available to cover the threat.
- It took 90 plus day for everything to pay
- $400 of the $1300 is bill credits ( $200 each line bill credit )
- The 2 Visa cards were discounted $13.99 each ( $435.99 ) Not $450.
- VZW will not accept them back to pay for the phones. You must pay off the phone all at once and it cannot be a multiple transaction. ( No partial pay ) There is a web site where you can transfer the cards into your bank account and it takes 3 to 5 days to show up.
The VZW S7 isn't all that either. The battery is weak and the phone is hot. You have to keep a charger handy. Their last update really screwed the phone up too. It freezes and stumbles a lot. I'd much prefer my old 5 or 6.
On the plus side, my bill is lower by about $65 a month but the service is about equal. I have yet to see any significant difference in coverage.
JMO and good luck
Verizon pay to switch....

Your bill is lower. How much is your bill.
I have a post pay account with Verizon. Wondering if I could save with a prepay account.
Thanks -
I wouldn't reccomend Verizon to my worst enemy.A bunch of gouging bloodsuckers.

2 phones, 24 gigs is $136.94. Technically 28 gigs since each phone gets 2gb free before touching the plan.
I have better service almost everywhere. Calls don't drop nearly as much. It's pretty #### legit -
Well hey folks,
I am coming back out after a 10 year break..
My Florida buddy is an OTR, He has the I-phone set up..Forgot the service provider..
But what are the majority of everyone out there using these days ?
I have a new Samsung flip phone S-5 or some sort ...
Does anyone use Trac-Phone ?
Has ATT gotten the western PA. coverage ( no coverage from Pittsburg west into Canton / Akron area ) issues addressed.
If My rig is running state of the art Qualcomm do I really need the fancy smancy phones ? -
I've had Verizon forever (since they took over Alltel). Their service area is 2nd to none. I stream Nextflix to my TV pretty much anywhere I stop for the night. I had AT&T many years ago(back when the 1st tri-mode phones 1st came out) and their coverage sucked...and they flat out lied to me, and they ate 4 lines of service because of it. They told me that I was on a monthly bill to the house, but asked for a credit card as a backup payment instead of putting down a deposit...31 days later, my service was suspended because they tried to charge my bill to the credit card (my business card that I used for unexpected road expenses. I had just put 2 new steer tires and an alignment and hadn't paid the card off yet). When I called in to see what was up, the lady said they don't use credit cards as deposit, only cash if we weren't existing customers, so I was set up to pay the bill via the card. When I told her that that wasn't what salesman said, and needed to get it straightened out, she basically said that I could pay with a debit card, for an additional fee, and it would take up to 24 hours to turn my service back on...I basically said shove your crappy service, dropped my trailer at the nearest yard and bobtailed to Verizon. Took me months of fighting with them before a supervisor eliminated the ETF after I agreed to pay my balance in full. Wouldn't whiz on anything AT&T if it were on fire and I pee'd firefighting foam...
