Economy is looking good….more workers outta a job, less revenue for a lot of manufacturers, so less jobs there too… it all makes a circle.
Vampire, IH9300SBA and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
This is all because of the phony “climate change” nonsense

Heard a rumor that KW might be working on a redesign of the 990 to make it more appealing. Who knows if that’s true or not. Guess all the 389 people who said they’d buy a W9 instead of a 589 better get it done before time runs out.

To be honest iin MY opinion its a list of reasons why kenny is killing them. First paccar has pissed away a LOT of good will with their MX trashpile of an engine. Many people who were rabid pete or kenny fanbois have been put off the brand. Especially considering the Ws Ts and Cs arent a hell of a lot more capible or reliable then the far cheaper plastic versions and arent any cheaper to run.
They also get generally worse economy and are heavier which is a problem in both meeting EPA and CARB requirments. They are a fortune to fix or work on compared to the much more common plastic trucks which means insurance and maintaince tends to cost a bit more. And frankly many O/Os are either leaving the market or switching to cascadias, volvos and internationals due to how much cheaper and/or reliable they are.
Then there is the fact many of these trucks are in serious need of an update across the board in styleing and creature comforts. As much as it pains me to admit. My lonestar is better in every way layout and comfort wise to my pete and far better then both the 379 and 389s i was eyeballing before i got it and just as good.
Then as judge said we are coming down from the C19 boom and getting back to a more normal level with a good chance for a slump coming up due to the rampent inflation and such the last few years finally catching up.
Combine all the above and it makes more sense to sunset the designs and try to offer what the market wants generally. Sure there are specific niches that those trucks filled. But they are just that. Niches. Id be suprised if those designs made up more then a fraction of their overall sold units.El Hueso, Midwest Trucker and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
So I guess KW is done with trucks built for actual work.

The MX wasn’t available in the W900L. It was in the W900B and the T800, not sure about the other models.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Seriously, emissions? Have these dip####s realized that aerodynamics mean jack #### when it comes to anything a C500 will be hauling?
Dino soar, broke down plumber, Sons Hero and 8 others Thank this. -
If they’re phasing out all the other narrow cab models it doesn’t make much sense to keep a production line running just to build the c500.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Im convinced most emissions lawmakers have never actully been closer to a truck then a drawing.Dino soar, broke down plumber, Vampire and 3 others Thank this.
