You do exactly what you need to, in the safest manner, with adequate preaparation as a trained professional, given the task!

You put the trailer in the right lane and the cab in the far left hand lane. You make your right hand turn stopping and letting all the cars in your way figure out how to get out of the way. You do whatever it takes to keep everyone and all property safe.

You do not run over curbs as you will bend rims doing that.

I wasnt sure why he didnt use left lane to turn right...but even then itd be pretty close. Its not a great intersection. They do have stop line back on the road he was on for trucks coming from left to make a wide turn because its so tight

Forgot to mention going left the block is a few miles long and takes you to a stretch of business and. Ahighway on ramp. If he went straight thats be easiet still a few mile adventure.

Going gently over a curb, making sure the tire contacts the curb and not the rim, will not damage the rim.

    Lol, I did this once...
I was delivering into some building supply place that was in a residential area. I was turing into a narrow residential street from a busy 6 lane street. There was a car dealer right where I needed to turn so they had cars parked all over in the street and I was hard to see what was really going on and pay attention to traffic.

I wanted to swing a bit wider but there was so much fricken traffic I would have had to sit there blocking a lane for 10 min waiting for a break to do it so, I just went for it with what I had.

Now, that I'm committed to the turn, I see there is a car parked too close to the intersection and I couldn't even take the far side of the road.

Yeah ok, plan C, I'll just ease over the curb as to not damage the sidewall on the trailer tire. Nope, this wasn't an ordinary curb. It was th curb of Doom! They used a pice of angle iron so it had a sharp metal edge. Wtf! What are the chances?

It cut the bead off the rim for 4" or or so...

Perfect safety record gone to pot because of some unrealistic circumstance.

    That's life, don't trust anything.

I've never ruined a tire. But did have one dismount from rim on trailer. When i was backing up to dump my load of dirt off truck.

One of them tight spots that a truck shouldn't be with a pup.

Id wait till it was clear and take the whole street to the right, or wait for all traffic to clear and turn left and if possible go around the blck. If it clear you can turn your nose to the left and make a button hock turn. I have had to get cars to back up or get out of the way at times so i can make a tight right turn, they dont mind most of the time, no one wants an accident. Patience is a good quality.

How one handles this is determined at least in part by whether or not there is a double right turn lane. :D

What if there is a median with flowerbed in the middle of the street you are making a right turn? I have heard though never tried it before. You turn into the lane of oncoming traffic, then back up and make your turn into the tight right-hand street once your tailer is aligned with the street.

Has anyone tried this? I had a situation the other day, where I am not sure if this was possible since the street was very busy. But it would have been a better option than what I did, which went over the median and bent a trailer rim. I must add that the only way to get to the receiver was to make that turn. No other option.

The option I am leaning toward is walking the google maps, it shows you every turn in street view you are making, if the turn looks too tight to make, then it is a junk load and just turn it down. This place that I delivered to was a genuine hellhole in the middle of ghettos.
