I think I can get a key made at a dealer if I know your vin number, It'll be an honest way to steal your truck.

I put the last 8 of my VIN just like my previous employer, Stevens Transport. I really don’t get pulled in into weight stations. I have a PrePass.

If you really think that helps ,then put your life story on the side, don't stop short of anything that could be useful.

    Vin#
    Icc#
    Mc#
    Truck#
    State permit#s
    (PUC# , KYU#, NM#, ETC ETC ETC)
    Street address
    Town, state, Zip code
    Company phone number

    Maybe for good measure add;

    Blood type(yes I've seen this)
    First aid kit location
    CPR certification (if applicable)
    Fire extinguisher location
    CPAP in use (or not)
    Any company safety award info

We run Interstate in all lower 48, it has made ZERO difference at the scales by having only the basic REQUIRED info lettered.... None of that other non-required garbage.

CARB number is not required for companies that reside out of the state of CA ....

If your company registration shows a California address THEN you need a carb # for your reefer.... That goes on the TRAILER TRU.

USEPA is required in all 50 , you don't need to vinyl that info either.

Colorado likes the last 8 or truck number on the side of the truck. They can go by license plate if they are quick enough to get it when you roll on the scale. I just had a nice chat with them a month or so ago. They can use VIN, DOT plus truck number or plate to look you up.

What's the big deal about putting at least the last 8 on the side your truck? You're acting like we're suggesting your SS# be listed....loosen the brim of the tinfoil hat a bit...

Tinfoil hat is someone thinking the last 8 of their VIN displayed, helps limit their chance of an inspection at the weigh station ;-)

Perhaps you missed my original post, but in Colorado they pulled me in frequently, and told me it was because the truck I was driving only showed 6 characters of the VIN. Since I will be going through Colorado, showing 9 will keep me from going in as frequently. Somebody else here mentioned the same thing about Colorado. They're a pain in the butt there.

    I thought Oregon was anal...

I still think if you put your SS #, DOB, Email address with pw, cc # with 3 number security code, they'll never ever pull you in ;-)

    KB3MMX and SteveScott Thank this.
