It is in the programming of the truck. I would have the Parameters changed.

It will start from first when heavy loaded uphill. It may start from third on a downhill empty. First time having an automated transmission?

You can manually select a gear before starting if you feel like you know better.

Mine does this too, also an Ishift. But not all the time. You sure you aren't bumping the shifter to make it shift up? Sometimes if I set mine to 2nd before I take it off it will take off in 2nd every time. Other times it goes back to 1st (which I hate). When empty I can usually take off just fine in 3rd sometimes even when light. So I would say its normal but that is just me.

    Perfectly normal for any transmission.
