Greatwide is not the only carrier in the SE that hauls for Wallmart. US Xpress does as I saw a Century with a Walmart trailer at the pilot in cocoa fl. Also there was rumor that Greatwide would loose 50 trucks to USX. Barr Nunn is picking up a contract as I have started seeing them hauling in FL too. Finally, JB Hunt has dedicated that goes into FL too. KH
We still have a thriving small town business. Our local businesses are hurting Wal-Mart. If you want cheap, buy at Wal-Mart for the same price. But don't expect it to last. I pay the same price for higher quality at our local mom & pop stores. Thread count is very important when you buy anything made of cloth/fabric. There are some items I still purchase at Wally world. But very few. Anytime I go into a Wal-Mart, I spend up to an hour searching for red tag items. these items are usually priced waaaay below wholesale. That big $10 box of Valentine chocolate, taste the same on Feb. 20th when it's marked down to $1.
I had to read this twice. I thought "this guy must be kinky", until I saw you posted "Valentine" instead of "Vaseline".
It use to be Buy USA. Now its bring it home to the USA. How things have changed. Yet our leaders are pulling their hair out wondering why noone is hireing. Need a job? China has a lot of jobs for unskilled workers and if you wanna relocate find the company you use to work for and ask if can have your same job back. Tell them you dont mind to move to Mexico to have it back.
This all started years ago when Corporations were granted individual rights. They are not beholden to anyone and are outgrowing their britches. I remember when the government was the biggest thing around, but that is no longer the case. Corporations are now the big bullies on the block and have no accountability. Their motto is "profit at any cost", and they are selling us out. There are more re-adjustments in store for us and I expect it will get much worse before it ever gets better. ######## about it is not going to fix anything, it is way beyond our control. Tighten up your seatbelt and get back to work. Make the best of your time off, that time is destined to get smaller and smaller if you expect to keep the wolf away from your door. DON'T LIVE BEYOND YOUR MEANS and the shackles that bind you will not be cranked so tight. Learn to get by with less and the ride will be more pleasant. Diversify and develop alternative sources of income. Provide something the Corps can't. Provide something the Corps need (but don't chain your wagon to their horse too tightly). It's us against them and they are dealing from a stacked deck, you gotta bring your own deck to the game.
Bringing YOUR deck to my yard.....will get you shot. But, it's painfully obvious the weed in ya'lls neck of the woods, is of a much higher quality than we can grow around here. How much is an ounce ??
I used to work for Walmart & Thank God Got away from there. That company is every sence of the word / phrase, a cancer to society. PERIOD! No matter where they go, they try & gobble up all of the local resources & when everything is consumed, they move onto other territories. So, I have to agree with those 110% that say, "IF Walmart Want the #### goods, Let them use their own #### trucks & drivers to go & get it" If any of you ever saw some of their loads being deliverd to their stores, you would scratch your head in wonder as to how in the world, those idiots got their CDLs. It's no JOKE!! Those morons have no clue as to not only how to stack, they have yet to figure out the proper way of securing a load, much less figure out what load locks are for. Almost every single load that they brought into the store, it looked like a bomb went off inside the trailer. They would have paint, thinners, dog food, propane tanks, you name it, all mixed in with dry & canned foods for grocery. Maggots crawling on the floors in both their dry boxes and in some cases, on their meat & produce trucks (brought) in by swift. NO!! Let them use their own equipment to do the hauling, & stand your grounds on the price that "YOU WANT" them to pay. Its time we all stand up against this cancer & tell them, We've had enough. Just my 2 cents
I have never once live unloaded at a Target DC I have however spent probably a month of my life catering to Wal Mart's "procedures" while someone is slowly unloaded my freight that I am paying to have unloaded. I shop at Target and really do miss Kmart, they closed all of their stores in my area. They seem to have a better understanding of what works best for an outside carrier and actually do something about it by designing their whole logistics system in a way that doesn't hinder those bringing in their stuff. Wal Mart is the only place in the world where you can STILL catch Polio and find a soiled diaper in a shopping cart all in the same afternoon.
Wal-Mart has been doing this for years anyhow. I know of several bird seed places where they already do this. Strictly drop/hook for Wal-Mart drivers and the keep 4 or 5 trailers staged at all times. Same with other places.
