Hello, i am 21 years old and i live in Ukraine, im also a truck driver (above 15ton) but not a semi.

I love driving very much, and its been a while that im thinking of moving to Canada and start driving a semi.

I want to move up to Canada and start trucking for a few reasons.. as first trucking is my favorite job, i want to drive a semi and see all of Canada and USA, you know, travel.
The culture here isnt really wonderfull, too dangerous too live here.. And i got a few more reasons but nevermind right now.

As of grtting the semi license and moving to canada and becoming a trucker i got a few questions that bugs me and i want some proffesional people to answer me.

At the trucking over there how much times a month i see my home?
Can i choose to drive with a friend ?
How it the salary for new drivers ?
How do i manage to get a relationship if everyday im in a new place?

    Chinatown Thanks this.

As an Ukrainian you will get your first job easily with any Eastern European small company. You'll be making about 1000-1300 per week and you will be home every Friday night or Saturday morning. Yes, you can drive with a friend, but you better don't, you are not going to like it. Its gonna be hard for you to get in relationship. You have to cook your own food to bring with you, if you don't, you'll be eating fast food on the road, which means u'll become fat and you know, its hard to get women when you are overweight.

First, you had better hope that you will even be allowed into Canada. Once you get there, you will need to find housing, then a job. Worry about love at another time.

Yes, pretty hard. The best way would be using online dating sites and when you have a connection, the girl should be OK with seeing you on weekends. The best way would be to save up for your own truck, that way you can choose your own schedule and be home more often

Hi David, welcome aboard. I can understand you wanting to get out of the Ukraine, things are pretty rough there, from what I hear. Not sure why you would go to Canada first, unless it's easier to get in, but if you can, I'd come right to the USA. I'm not sure of the opportunities in Canada, but here, the sky is the limit. You will need to go through the whole training deal, but many companies are very "immigrant" friendly. After all is said and done, a good rule of thumb, is out 2 weeks, home for a few days, then back out, or stay out all you want, too. Many companies have a rider policy, but I don't recommend it. It adds a whole new burden, that could come apart at the seams. Pay is wide open, but it seems new drivers make in the low .30 cpm range and go into the .40 cpm after a few years. ( 90% of all OTR trucking is by the mile). Going to a new place everyday is part of the job. They're all pretty much alike, and maintain a professional attitude, and you'll be fine, depending on the place you work for, you could go back to the same places, if you do well, some may even ask for you to return. Another thing, some companies require you be 23, for insurance purposes, but you are on the right track. Best of luck.

Being a OTR driver, if your not in a relationship already? It can be difficult, if this is a priority? Maybe move to the area your thinking of, find something local, once you can establish a strong relationship, then make the move to OTR

The easiest way to immigrate to Canada is through Quebec.
The Chinese have already learned this. Those Quebec Frenchies don't like the rest of Canada telling them what or how to do things, so they make immigration easier by entering through their province. Try the websites truckerpassions and truckercupid for women interested in truckers. Marry a Chinese woman and immigrate to Canada as a married couple. Chinese men are marrying those beautiful Ukrainian women these days, so you can go for a Chinese woman on blossoms website. Millions of them will be interested in this journey with you; they love Canada, it's a dream for them.

Best thing I've done to keep from eating at all the fast food places is I keep a fridge in the truck, also have one of those coolers that heats and cools and keep it on heat, and put in cans of soup, chili, etc and then you can have a hot can of goodies along with your sandwich. Sometimes a good hot can of soup and sandwich beats paying at least $10 for a burger or some plate lunch that when you go back out to your truck you're still hungry.
