Yup, always amuses me when companies laud their "million mile + drivers" on their advertisements. We worked for a company that had a few of those drivers, but after a little more investigation, found they had some serious problems with their records - and were just happy to have an OTR job. Not saying that's every driver, but there's always 2 sides to the story.
We're the same. The quarterly corporate mag is filled with guys getting 10, 15, 20, 25 and even 30 plus year service awards.
Ditto the companies that like to paste a big "million mile driver" sticker on the side of their trucks.

Our country is changing. Two classes of people being headed up by our government have companies scrambling to restructure and take advantage. If you're going to be here awhile you need to talk with independent drivers. They have disparaging news as well. good luck. p.s. do you have any family members that can get you a municipal , county , state or federal job? that's where the money is.

Surfer Joe's comments are accurate. Most company drivers will average 500 to 600 per week.
The trolls and company shills will say they make 100k plus per year.
Those of us who have been around a long time know the truth.Surfer Joe Thanks this. -

I worked for small companies my entire career. This is my first venture into a big company. And all I did was take what I used to do at the small companies and apply to where I am now. You can make anything work if you work at it. Even a Swift or a Central. There are some real garbage companies, CRE, CRST, etc. The big thing is, show them you're there to kick ### and take names. A lot of drivers anymore have an entitlement syndrome I swear. Work for it and it'll come to you I promise.
misterG and Swamprat55 Thank this. -
And by the way, the only time I get a $600 check is when I've only worked a little because of hometime.
Swamprat55 Thanks this. -
By the way FSU, no it doesn't take 11 years. It takes your entire career.

Tell that to all the drivers that are leaving in droves.
Or, for that matter, to any satisfied driver that you might talk to in person.
Good luck in finding one. -
OP,
People take low paying jobs for many reasons: need to insure their minors, are building a work history, willing to take care of themselves without assistance, some want to travel, some like being alone with their thoughts, and some want a challenge, etc etc etc., and whatever.
They could stay home and work locally like you suggest.
But are you calling others ignorant because they don't do what you would do?Swamprat55 Thanks this. -
