i have no need to be a master anymore of anything.

i say what i want to say, good, bad or ugly.

it's called "earned my time", and at my age, i take no advice from youngin's.

I've met younger guys that behave 'older school' than I, and older hands that are complete fools, so foolish that I can barely comprehend how they managed to survive.

You can say what you want, good bad or ugly. It doesn't make you look very good or earn you any respect. Simply being on this planet for 'X' number of years doesn't 'earn you the right' to anything apart from a senior citizens' discount.

Six is right, you had to learn simple stuff at some stage, being a good teacher or helping others is a craft, that can be mastered.

I'm 48 and been driving for 20 years. Big deal. What I don't want to be come is 68 years old with 40 years experience, and bitter, grumpy and rude, sitting on the front porch yelling "Get off my Grass!" at everyone in life.

To the OP, these are minor infractions. Flat tires happen to everyone. Checking ALL of the tires by just doing a walkaround at every stop doesn't take anytime so make it a habit.
And the registration violation is no biggie either. Your violations will take some time to hit your PSP Drivers record, so the new company you applied to probably won't see them.
Good luck in your job search.

So you are purposely trying to browbeat rookies?

Over the ODFL years, I always checked for the registration on trailer/dolly/trailer which very often was sun bleached, illegible or missing. We got tired after a while of going to the office, having them find/produce a copy, or it was after hours.

It's really a picky violation to write up.

Tires - I learned that thumping them would only reveal a flat or near flat wheel, sticking with a gauge was the only true way to tell.

I'm not too hard on guys that have issues that a 'thorough pre-trip' would have found, some stuff happens on the road, drivers for the most part are not mechanics, and a pee stained parking lot in summer or an icy coated lot in winter is hardly the best conditions to be crawling around under the truck. Since owning my own I'm way more vigilant than I was when I was company, because I'm now the maintenance manager, and if the unit fails, it's directly out of my pocket.

You'll be OK. As said, they're non-moving violations, and we ALL have had some at some stage. Officers will find something on a brand new truck out of the factory if they really want to.

Please note that if you get handed a 'warning' again, for anything - politely ask the officer to write it as a full on violation.

This is because violations still incur points - but you can't fight them in court, if that makes sense to you.

OP must know by now that these are minor items and has learned to double check paperwork..

Everyone mentioning trailer registrations isn't reading the violations; IRP apportioned plates is usually a tractor violation.

Most people looking at the PSP would consider all this equipment and not unsafe driver.

By the way, a lot of places don't run the PSP.....

You had an opportunity to help the newbie. Instead you aggravated and irritated him. You had a chance to do him some good, instead you belittled and made fun of him. You don't have the right to do that here.
Are rookies a PIA? Sure, because they don't know how much they don't know. You had a chance to turn that around and make something good out of it...and you blew it.
If your posts are nothing but irritants to people who are genuinely needing our help, keep them to yourself.
