Thought I was gonna be world famous one time because I had just caught sight of a believed to be extinct bird called the Dodo Bird, walking right in front of my truck. Much to my chagrin, it was just my dispatcher saundering across the yard to complain about my logbook

No we were strictly forbidded to go that way. The route was up US95 through Idaho into BC up to Cranbrook then run east on Canada 3. From there we had the choice to run north on Canada 22 or Canada 2.

22 had some gnarly 8% grades. Also the first time I went up in the month of June it started snowing. So from then on I went to the main highway 2.

My main memories of it was that it wasn't a very profitable run for me, the hares and the mosquitoes were almost as big as my 60 pound dog.

I would have loved to run up and over through Banff though. I see Canmore up there which was featured in one of my favorite western movies called Last of the Dog Men.

I traveled through Jasper about twice a month and I hate that part of the trip. All those moose and bighorn sheep (and tourists stopped to stare at them) just slow the whole trip down. The Icefield Parkway between Jasper and Banff is worth a trip though. Only thing is commercial traffic is not allowed on that road.

I remember one time at the Mcdonalds in Fergie BC I could have sworn I saw prince Harry and his bodyguard. These two guys had thick British accent and words I know Canadians don't use like "mate". Anyway looked like him.

I was pulling into a reservation in New Mexico a few months ago to park for the night. There was a small group of wild horses there, hanging around the on ramp to I25. The local police were there, getting the horses away from the on ramp. One of them pulled up beside the stallion and let out a WHOOP of his sirens. Stallion promptly turned and kicked in the door of the Expedition the policeman was driving. Both rear hooves, BANG! Got up in the morning, same stallion was standing in front of my truck with a few of his girlfriends. I opted to stay in the rig and leave him the heck alone, lest my face end up like the door of the Expedition. Wild horses are NOT your friend.

Back when I was a deputy, I came upon a motorhome stopped right in the middle of the road, yeah literally, straddling the center line, out near Death Valley Junction. Rental unit, elderly couple from Germany out trying to get pix of wild mustangs. As they'd get closer, the herd would move away, just a bit. The couple kept trying to get closer, the herd kept moving. They were a good quarter mile from their motorhome when I finally got my eyes on them! Dad gummed Tourons!

Glad you clarified that. Or it would have required pictures, or it didn't happen.
