You went over your 14 and didn't end up causing a crash? Seems a bit far fetched. :)

You can go over your 14 and work all you want, Just can't drive over your 11/14.
You can stay on duty forever just can't drive til you take a 10 hr. break

OP, down load truckers path app on your smart phone. My advice is to start looking for parking about 9-10 hours max into your driving. You should never have a problem unless it's real late at night. Stay safe driver!

You can work 100 hours strait if you want, and your body can handle it. What you can not do is drive after the 14th hour however.
Remember folks, All hos does is limit drive time. There are no limits on On Duty time. It affect drive time sure, but there are not limits to actual On Duty.

What? The hours he worked will all be subtracted from his 70. As long as he takes a full 10 hour break, his next day's hours will be unaffected, provided that he has at least 11 hours on his 70.

As long as you are not under a load, some companies allow you to drive off duty, in order to get to a safe place to park. For example Crete / Shaffer / Hunt. Off duty driving does not count against any of your clocks.

Are you sure about that? As a point of reference, I was recently in Canada and took advantage of the extra two hours driving time. I believe I drove 12 hours and 45 minutes. The following day when I returned to the US, my 11 had been reduced to 9 hours and 15 minutes. This was following a full 10 hour break, and I had more than 11 hours available on my 70 as well.

In my case, I believe it was because I drove more than 11 hours. It had nothing to do with my 14. In the case of the OP, I don't think it will have that effect on him unless he drove more than 11 hours.

I've got drivers who work 16 to 18 hours with loads but they have to take 10 to reset their hours to drive.
