Cruise is also something I would prefer so I still have to try pulling the fuse, I did take off the radar and unplug it it threw up a check light and buncha other codes so frustrated with this thing

or are you Sarcistic -
I think there's a plug in the toolbox, at the end where the wires lead. but the ECM might object. Oh well. If it does you could always just plug it back in and be where you started in the first place.

I just got in a new 2016 Freightliner that has the meritor WABCO collision avoidance system. I've been talking to a lot of other drivers and have been playing around with mine a little myself and I can tell you that these devices are tamper resistant and very hard to remove if not impossible to remove especially in the new trucks. From what I hear, the federal government is requiring all new trucks to have collision avoidance systems installed. In my new truck this system is linked with my abs system and my cruise control and also with my automatic shifting system. If you tried to cover the sensor up in any way or hinder the radar from doing its job the system will immediately notice and disable your cruise control. If you leave it like that long enough I found that mine taps into my Qualcomm and start sending critical events, which gets me phone calls from road service telling me that something's wrong with my truck. I have also heard from other drivers and found that most companies now are putting rules into effect that say that if you so much as covered the radar up or attempt to disable the system in any way its automatic termination. Also I am Not 100% sure but since these new systems are supposed to be required, it may also be a dot violation just to screw with one.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like it, it's very glitchy and seems to pick up opposing traffic quite a bit in turns and corners and curves. But with them coming in all the new trucks and with threats of termination to anyone who tries to disable these systems, I think we may just have to learn to live with them. -
Abs is the only thing required. The rest is just a warm and fuzzy.

Point the radar up or down, so it think you're the only vehicle on the road

I'm a tech at a freightliner dealer and just had a customer requests removing on guard . I Read this post before doing anything. Call Detroit, Waco and freightliner. Freightliner had the info VIN specific. reading over the email the info looks like, changing 1 harness and installing a resister and unplugging on guard and removing power and ground wires from Sam cab (FUSE BOX IN GLOVE BOX) turn off adaptive cruise in the cpc and resetting the instrument cluster and reconfiguring the abs. This info is again reading from the email. If customer approves repair I'll let you guys know exactly what goes into the repair.

I took off my lic plate, then pu5 it back on. But i used the BOTTOM screw holes, instead of the top like we all usually do. This had the effect of raising my plate in front the radar. Wella signal is now blocked no more problems. Except when i use the cruise. It throws a code and the adaptive cruise doesnt work. Thats a good thing cause i didnt like it slowing me down cause it wants me to be a 5second diatance away. But i live and work on east coast.

Un plug = no cruise
Tape= no cruise
