WDT does not allow pets on their trucks at this time unfortunately. They do pay you $10 an hour while you are in class, which is rare and really cool. They train only on tanker trailers, since that is mostly what they haul, though they do have some dry van drivers who haul in the southwest US. They have a terminal in Blanchard OK, very near me.

WDT also uses other companies to pull its trailers. Some of those might just pay better. Hang out near their plant entry and note company names on trucks.

Interesting idea. WDT pays pretty well though others may pay better.

Following this thread just out of curiosity. Recently started doing some WDT loads. LOTS of deadhead but am told that will improve once I get a few more loads under my belt. I guess I'm low man on the totem pole for now. Still, steady work/nice people.

Are you paid deadhead miles? Most companies do pay deadhead; at least all the companies I've worked for do.

Give you explain how you're being paid? If you're not being paid to drive that truck and driving it for free I would find another company ASAP, Regardless of where you are at on the totem Pole.

The rate they're paying is supposed to cover DH, but there is A LOT of it. It's hard to do more than two loads in a week due to distances.

WDT wants an empty back there on all deadheads, no bobtail unless there isn't an empty to take, but it's trip pay IIRC.

The difference with good dispatcher relations is likely not doing as much deadheading by finding another load close by, i.e. West Point and Norfolk, NE are relatively close and both have plants so dropping at one and picking up at the other isn't as bad as deadheading out of state with an empty to get the next load.

Also they do both live and drop/hook depending on customer and timing, so more variables.
