Pay attention to other drivers and how they handle different situations.
How they react to what you are doing is a good indicator also.

You gonna have to throw it back.
Or just ignore it, that type is a #### starter, looking to get under your skin.
you and the other trainee can get together and talk, then start saying something like.. “Man, the more i think about it, we’re slaves to the job. They making’ us sit up and watch for load, yada yada, and we’re(while motioning to all, particularly trainer) and have the other guy key in with acknowledgement.
Then ask if he’s seen the movie with Charlton Heston & Yul Brenner as Ramses.
Good old movie following scripture.JoeyJunk, Boondock and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
Other trainee was a recent immigrant from Africa and ended up walked off the truck anyway. He couldn't express his opinion well though so I ended up advocating for both of usLilRedRidingHood, RangerMelB, Czar_Zero and 6 others Thank this.

You've got a good head on your shoulders. I'm kind of sad you wound up at WE. Get out of there ASAP.LilRedRidingHood, Another Canadian driver, Stringb8n and 5 others Thank this.

I'm no glamorous CEO or WE trainer, but I'm on pace to be between 115 and 120k this year running about 350 miles in 10.5 hours per night.
No matter how bad your situation is once you're solo, just know that this can be a great career at other companies, once you have some experience.LilRedRidingHood, Capacity, Another Canadian driver and 6 others Thank this. -
Wow.....that has to be the van division. In my opinion, if a new driver is going to try Western Express, flatbed is the route to go. You won't wait as long for a trainer, and you won't be couped up 3 to a truck. The money and the miles seemed to be more consistent on the flatbed side. When is started, it always seemed like the van division was over saturated and disorganized. A trainer with 2 students just doesn't make any sense to me. I don't see how a new driver will learn anything of value.

I did it at Schneider back in the day. I learned quite a bit, but...it being 2003 and me being a young man, I probably should have looked at the situation and asked for another trainer. I went along with it because I didn't know what "normal" was.
It all worked out, but it wasn't pretty. LolJoeyJunk, Lonesome, motocross25 and 2 others Thank this. -
Yup dry van. I heard horror stories about their flatbed division so I went with this side of things. Doubted it'd be pretty either way I went but who would've know it was gonna turn out like this. Talked to my recruiter this morning and he said I probably wouldn't be out til Wednesday so I'm flying myself home and getting dispatched out of my home terminal now.IH9300SBA, LilRedRidingHood, JoeyJunk and 2 others Thank this.
