I have worked a day, then that night, the next day, then next night until noon the 3rd day, then I crashed (as in slept rest of that day and night) but I couldn't sleep because I had food poisoning from Huron, SD at a Perkins.
This was back in the day when we ran loose leaf.

19 hours was my worst, thanks be to a dump truck flipping over in front of the terminal and knocking a pole down.

When i was working 3rd shift maintenance and had a daytime side business there were many 2 days awake and working stretches.. Where i might get an hour snoring in a chair in the welding room, lay down on a piece of cardboard under the stairs or catch a nap on the roof.

Ive had a few back to back 20 hr or so CDL days too

I've gone 30+ hours in my previous non-driving job once. Many days around the 24 hour mark. Under stress, too. Quit that #### job, should have done it many years sooner. Life is too short to kill yourself like that.

Had a load from Garden City KS to Sacremento. CA

Made Bakersfield to Bruce's and slept 16 hours to become safe again (White line fever by Barstow...) Straight through from GC, KS. I don't recall how many miles that was. Maybe 1350. Essentially overnight and a day. Then finished the run into Sacremento. The distribution center office was on my radio asking where is DAT MEAT LOAD? WHAR YE AT!? While i was 6 miles out.

At two miles I said meat load in a minute what dock? They said dock such a such. I say you sure Im the meat load?

Yes #### it you got meat for us don'tcha? Get in here.

And good morning to you too, not even 9 am monday.

The trash talking and laughing I collected from oh... I guess 200 truckers in that place was something else. I don't mind a little abuse, a little teasing even a bit of fun. But I had that coming to me that morning.

I told dispatcher to make sure thats the last time I go to that center. Having a dock number, blowing through the gaurdshack without stopping and so forth is just too much fun. Too exciting for them especially the poor gaurds. They chased me all the way to the assigned dock. Which resulted in more trash talking abuse on that radio.

I am very happy that all those truckers had their morning entertainment. =)

Ive been burnt so much over the years it would not be difficult for any state to prosecute if they so chose. Might as well get it over with fast, My scan today did not go well. Revealed two holes that will need sealing in the heart muscle. We'll hold off making final decisions until after the Nuclear Stress test next week. It's pretty damning. We don't know yet if it is possible to seal those kinds of holes. It would be a first. I will probably gamble the dice on that anyway. Go out swinging with boots on as they say.

As far as the stories. There is one more.

Lancaster PA to Idabel OK with Govt Aluminum Coil on the trailer. I think it was right around 1450-1520 miles overnight on the ground. Grabbed fuel at Little Rock becuase I burned too much forcing the mountains on I-81 and I-40 in Tennessee. It's that little 320 horse M11 not very fast but maybe 90 all out loaded. 90 was not much faster than what the herds were doing on 40 and 81. Getting my doors blown off.

Now in those days Little Rock was interesting. Not so much today, This would be back in the early 90's where Arkansas covered everything in signs saying Bill Clinton this or that and more signs saying zero tolerance on speeding. Once they got rid of Bill and got rid of those other signs plus raising the speed limit to be a righteous 75 then alls well. (July 20, 2020 is the day cars go 75 and CDL trucks go 65. The old split speed limits demons return.)

The Govt Aluminum was in Idabel 8 minutes prior to 8 that monday morning. I had until 8:05 before I was deemed late and they would raise holy hell with my company and sic the state police in two states to be hunting me.

I hope they choked on those coils. No logbooks at all on that run. If I had to do it legal it would not have arrived until Tuesday at 6 PM.
