Move to the beach and buy a hot dog cart
Sirscrapntruckalot and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Kentucky is the place to be! That place is the life for me. Necks spreadin’ out so far and wide. Keep the rest and give me your left side.
tscottme Thanks this. -
For my situation, just move into the truck and save up. Get the experience then relocate to get the hell away from the lousy small town job market.
But especially, get a power inverter and proper fridge / microwave / stove setup to eat better. -
Nothing. My career is going great somehow. There are people doing better but within my family I’m #1. I remember when I started my career they constantly complained that I was wasting my life as an order filler back at Walmart DC 6084. Somehow losing everything helped me realize what’s important and it gave me the resolve to become the best me. Homeless to six figures in three years was a hell of a ride. At one point I blocked my own mother’s phone number. Fighting your way out of poverty is like trying to grab money in one of those wind machines if it was also a sharknado.

Did you pay rent to sleep in a bed six times a month? Or did you start local?

Woulda told myself to stop being so dang handsome
bumper Jack and Geekonthestreet Thank this. -
I spent 'home time' at family / relatives' place. Still, a good goal for me would have been a decent local job by getting to a better job market.Geekonthestreet Thanks this.

Definitely. Trucking wages, unlike engineering or management or the like, change with freight rates instead of cost of living. So you make literally double in Chicago vs Florida even though housing costs are very similar.Speedy356 and VIDEODROME Thank this.
