I’m currently at a company that I’m going to leave. Reason being is because I posted some days ago that someone hit my mirror while I was asleep and bent it. This wouldn’t be a big deal if I didn’t already have a couple things on my record with this company. The other things happened within the first 4-5 months of me driving. A speeding warning that I believe was 16 over, going down a hill my first time on the East coast. And the other was me backing into the back of a trailer that had back to back parking going 2 mph. The trailer was sticking out into my spot and there was no damage but I still reported it. All that happened in 2023. Since then, I haven’t had any other accidents. My company is routing me back to the terminal to get mirror fixed. If it was only that, it would be fine. Unfortunately, just the other day, the samsara camera caught me holding my phone after it fell from the Velcro and said “put your phone down”. If I wasn’t going to get fired for the mirror it’s definitely set in stone now. Considering I already had one write up by my company for having my phone in my hand. Which was because I had just gotten another truck they assigned me and I hadn’t had the Velcro set up in that one yet before I did a quick drive to Walmart. So now I told them I’m on a leave of absence for family emergency and I’m stopped in Chicago at one of their drop yards applying to other companies. Are there any ones that will accept me?

What if they aren't going to fire you? It's good to have a couple of companies in your back pocket true enough, but you've spent several days speculating about whether you're going to be fired. All you have to do is go on Craigslist or other sites and you'll have a bunch of hits on those jobs. Nobody knows 1099 companies off the top of their head because they aren't reputable companies.

1099 jobs get a bad rep and a lot of times for a good reason. There are some owner operators with several trucks that really have to go 1099 because of the costs with an employee that are really fair with the driver but they are few and far between to find.Since it sounds like you live in the Chicago area I wouldn’t try it.In smaller towns that you have some knowledge of the person it could work out.It really doesn’t sound like Theres anything you’ve done that is a big deal going 16 over is something everyone has done some a lot and if the cop only gave a warnIng he must have understood the circumstances, bumping a trailer no big deal especially no damage the simple thing as a phone in your hand can cause problems so you have to learn if it falls stop and pick it up.Honestly if you’re being honest in your post I don’t think a company is going to fire you this
