LMAO!!! You just described me!!! At least, that was me when I started. A few years ago I decided to stick with (very) light meals during my driving hours. A good, heavy lunch or dinner will just have me fighting Mr. Sandman about 20 minutes later, guaranteed.

I think another bad habit I have is coffee. I love drinking the stuff; problem is, when you're doing 24 ounces at a time, sooner or later it's gonna want to come out the other end. I had to cut down because it's a pain to fight the temptation to pull it over every 70 miles because your bladder is screaming bloody murder.

Lastly, I do not screw around with sleep on the road. When I'm shut down for my 10 I will get my 6-7 hours rest, period. Fighting heavy eyelids while I'm behind the wheel drives me berserk; coffee only works for a short time, and those 5-hour energy shots don't seem to have any effect on me at all. The only thing that seems to work for me is if I didn't blow most of my break BSing in the truck stop instead of doing what I was supposed to be doing.

I will probably get laughed at for this...

Probably the dumbest habit I ever developed was not setting the tractor parking brake when hooking up to a trailer and letting the trailer brakes hold me. I did this one day and when I hooked up the lines, the red glad hand was kinda loose so I tightened it up, reached in the truck to release the trailer brakes, then jumped back down to check for leaks. The truck started to roll while I was standing between tractor and trailer. Needless to say I beat that habit real quick!

Giving people holding up lines just to flirt with the cashier a total of fifteen to twenty seconds of patience.
