I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there are no "guarantees" in this industry. Are there companies that offer what you are inquiring about, ..sure.... however it is quite often nothing more than a recruiting gimmick and much the same as those large sign on bonuses you see advertised.. what they aren't telling you is that guarantee only stands for the weeks that you are out the entire week if you go home at any time the guarantee is null and void for that week. So that takes out the week when you go home and when you leave the house, example: you go home on a Friday or Saturday and leave on Monday morning, you wouldn't get the guarantee for either week. I know for a fact that's how k&b's "guarantee" is, and most others in the industry that offer it are pretty much the same. I'd recommend rather than looking for guarantees look for a company with a more stable customer/ freight base. Basically if it is a good enough job they won't need to offer you a guarantee, same goes for the company's offering all those large sign on bonuses. Drivers get awe struck by seeing all those dollar signs and what they don't realize is that sign on bonus is simply in place to offset the amount of money they won't make the first year there, after that the driver's see what they are actually making and they're gone after the first year. IF they last that long.... good luck to you in whatever you decide to do.

Just a thought are you dead set on OTR? or less just driving and doing some physical work Chinatown mentioned food service while that pays good its also very fast pace and hard on your body. There is also oil field or fuel hauling. Hauling fuel is generally good pay most places, and oil field especially if you hauling crude pretty good pay some companies have man camps where some are free and others take a little out your check they have hookups too for RV sometimes just some ideas throwing out their. I know some oil companies are so hurt for workers they flying them in other states like North Dakota. Had one driver around here gave up driving to working at a disposal he makes a little less p/h but makes more hours 95 hours last check. I live in Texas so we have arguably the biggest oil producers here and more work plus no heavy snow like in North Dakota.

I worked in the North Dakota oil fields last year and I have to say that while the pay was above average compared to OTR driving it is still very overrated and I was over promised and under delivered in terms of what I was led to believe by the company I worked for. This is not to mention that their trucks and trailers were junk, I mean literally they were in and out of the shop every other day getting Band-Aid fixes to just get them back on the road only to have them return within a day or two. On top of that you have to live in an incredibly remote part of North Dakota and there is just nothing out there aside from some decent scenery in certain places.

Aside from the scenery the oil industry still better then being OTR in my opinion I get paid for all my time they provide housing, and or hookups free for RV how many company drivers get paid 100% their time OTR. Personally think they need abolish cents per mile and be paid all hours worked not some. Lastly the oil field equipment being poor describes most companies I also see this as you see these mega carriers having all new equipment but pay their drivers poorly? Rather have crap to drive and pay well plus mine pays any fines for equipment related. Though most our drivers hit fences or speed they don't pay for either thankfully I actually still get out and look and haven't had a speeding ticket since 2006 which was shortly after I got my license and they just changed the speed limit on that road from 40 to 30 no grace period and only 1 sign on the entire road at the beginning of it...

I don't mind forced dispatch if the pay is good and equipment is at least 2022 and up . But no force dispatch is ideal , and allowing me to take the truck home as well.

Yea ones trash maybe another treasure . I get it . I just want to know regardless if it's considered trash or treasure . Because these companies won't tell you much ....they rather lock you in a contract first before you find out .

My guaranteed minimum pay is every week and I work 5 days a week. I get two full days off, that’s basically 62 hours off. Lots of companies like to say 48 hours off is two days. I think their dispatch system needs big improvement but that not my business since I’m company driver.

Yesterday I spent 2 hours at drop and hook. Fist I could not find the trailer but shipper said it was there. I called my company they said trailer was no showing up any GPS location. Shipper then say another driver took load 8 hour ago. Company has another load. Shipper says that load was gone also. Dispatch finally said get empty trailer and go home for my 2 days off. It’s annoying as driver spending time looking for nonexistent trailer or load. I made $1200 for 5 days of work. $200 of that was for moving 8 trailers for them as yard dog in my sleeper truck because their yard dog truck broke.

It was not much above the guarantee minimum pay. That’s hard part of running regional, lots of short runs hard to get lot is miles.

Just reefer to the best of my knowledge. No hazmat or tanker but I was recommend calling the number I listed above for additional information. I can tell you one thing about that company is that all of their trucks are decked out, they are some of the nicest trucks I've ever seen any company put on the road which is one of the reasons why I'm considering taking a job with them even though I don't really want to do reefer work again.
