So I am looking to get my CDL, but I don't have the money to pay for my school. So I figure I will sign on with a company and let them pay for it for me. I don't mind a contract to pay it back after wards. But which companies do it right? I mean CRST pays for the training, but you live in a dorm that I hear is crappy. And you pay for your own meals the whole way. SO for almost... 5 weeks you get no pay and you have to eat till you get rolling. Could be interesting. I know one other company has you work docks for 4 hours, then you go to class for 4-6 hours I think after. I think your paid for your dock work.

Is there a reputable company that offers the full monty? I don't mind signing the contract to work for them. The company deserves to be repaid someway. I just don't want to feel like I have the gestapho (sp) hovering over me.

    Thanx.

    There's many good company schools.
What is your city/state, and we can help you.

I don't know of any company where you need absolutely no money. Some dorms or motels might be ragged, but remember it's just for a short stay anyway.

Prime you need $100.00 and then they front money for food that you must pay back from payroll deduction.

One of the best deals out there is Millis Transfer, but you need $500.00
What's really good is the training period is short and new drivers that have posted say they made $50K their first year.

Midwest-Coast Transport is free for a one year obligation. The school is 3 weeks long.
    Swift Transportation school is good
Raider Express is free, the school is in Ft. Worth, but don't know if they hire out of state students.
As you posted, CRST is free for an 8 month obligation running teams.
Central Refrigerated is good and I think you need $100.00 there for processing fee.
Trailiner Corp has their own CDL school for no money down.
Wil-Trans has their own CDL school and finances the tuition.

If money is real tight, take a duffle bag of instant food for microwave. Dorms, motels, truckstops have free microwave.

    Ramen noodles
    Oatmeal
Soup (don't forget the can opener)
    Coffee
    Hot Chocolate
    Canned Tuna
    Crackers
    Beenie-Weenies

Well if you want free training, and don't want to pay for food...and you're not worried about fulfilling a contract... I suggest you go down to your local US Army recruiter sign a 2 year contract as an 88m.

If you go with the civilian companies, you need money not just for food but also the license and any endorsements. As some people said there are companies that will advance you money, but that will only cause you problems later on.

Try Con-Way Freight, look into their dock to driver program.
