Just curious what y'all have been paying for Thermo king to service your reefer. Oil, filters, belts, refrigerant recharge, and testing the unit.
I was quoted $250 flat rate for labor and materials, not including the air filter. Topping it off with a trailer DOT inspection for $69.
What did you pay for your last reefer service?

$99 just for oil and filters, $250 is pretty good for the works. I want to say the belts alone are $60-80. My local guys are $100 per hour labor at TK.
VisionLogistics Thanks this. -
$69 per hour at the Idaho Falls, ID. Utility trailer dealer. They are a carrier service center, but also do plenty of TK.
The service went great. Unfortunately though, the DOT inspection turned up about $1900 in parts and labor required for new spring hangars and springs, new torsion bar. Also one wheel position needs new shoes. Not what I had expected, but such is the life of an o/o. Hopefully they take care of me and don't try to bleed me out in labor charges. As I left, the tech said "I usually service reefers, not work on suspension parts".
We'll see next Thursday how it turns out. -
I forgot to add that for the $250 they actually did include a new air filter. Seems like a real fair deal for the service.

I was just in Idaho Falls last week. If I'd have known I would have gotten my TK serviced. I need to get it done before it gets too warm and it's due. In my opinion that is a bargain at $250.
"I usually service reefers" Yikes! lolVisionLogistics Thanks this. -
They're right next to DAD's truckstop between the Pete dealer and RUSH truck center if you decide to get your service done there.

Took them 2 weeks to get it done, 100 miles from the shop the reefer starts throwing a code 26 (low refrigerant). Took it back in the morning, they pressure tested it for a couple of hours, found no leaks- but the freon was low (like it was when I took it in). So they recharged it, and it hasn't had a problem since.
Shop foreman didn't argue with me when I implied that they 'forgot' to check it during the service. They performed work that I didn't authorize, and also tried to replace a torque arm that wasn't out of spec.
No apologies from them, so I won't be going back.
