Leave one pair of shoes, and I, personally, would leave the slides. Leave the tools. Your trainer will have all that. I would leave the laptop too, if it were me.

Last gig I had in Texas , I'd take 12 tshirts to be out 6 days. Load truck, change shirt. Unload, change shirt.

That's the thing. Flatbed you get dirty. I got to bed dirty. Not all the time, but enough. I have secured in a tropical storm. SMH.

Well I ended up dropping the tool bag last minute. The thing I forgot to mention is I don’t plan on going home before getting my own truck. So I wanted to have pretty much everything already with me. Just drove my first professional miles yesterday, and dropped my first load 5 minutes ago. I’m in!

Most likely they will send you by the house after you get your truck so you can get whatever you need and say goodbyes, etc.

That's what my company did. They routed me from GA to IN. Dropped at Indy terminal. Took load from Indy terminal to Columbus terminal.

Then wife picked me up. We went home a few days. Got everything situated and then hit the road.

    1) CDL
    2) Fuel card
    3) Toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss
    4) Deodorant and soap
    5) Gloves and boots.

Anything else is unnecessary and a bonus.

Does anyone ever ask for the physical copy of the med card? Seems like a complete afterthought and that no one actually checks once you’re on the road.

I think it's pretty much all electronic now. But I also believe you are required to have the long form in your possession.

I carry mine. No one has asked for it in over 10 years.

Once you notify & submit it to your state then the long form is rarely asked for. But, I carried mine with me just in case. Usually only the employer will ask to see or keep a copy.

Like ten years ago I showed it. Now it's in the state system. But I still have it in the truck.
