For everyone in this post harping on meticulous pre trips and beating this guy down cause he doesn’t know the exact name for a hub seal or axle gasket or how to measure brake wear are not living in reality. Honestly I’m not sure if any of you still drive….cause if you did you would know that only about 10% of drivers actually open the hood. And ain’t no #### company driver gonna be crawling around under their truck looking for leaks and brake tolerances. FYI you have to have a special tool to measure disc brakes.
Have you not seen the drivers of today?Old_n_gray, asphaltreptile311 and expedite_it Thank this. -
Special tool=eyes
My eyes notice a HUGE difference between new and close to worn out.
And with the last job. Even new brakes won't wear out if the drums don't get changed. They cam out and lock up the tires.
Yes. We've all seen this centuries truck drivers.
Yes. We still drive.
And some of us don't fancy OOS.Sons Hero, 48Packard, Magoo1968 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I rarely crawl under a trailer, but when I’m checking things on the driver side I will look under the trailer and check out the insides of the passenger side wheels and make sure there aren’t oil streaks and that the inside of the wheels aren’t wet from oil. Most of our trailers have disc brakes so not a lot we can do in the brake department other than make sure they’re on the trailer.

ELOGS its click click and done. No surprise so many trailers catching fire when drivers dont even have to waddle to the rear of truck to check license plate. Many dont even leave the drivers seat.

Being that you still drive and have seen the “new age” truck driver ….why are you beating the guy down about pretrips? Did you offer any advice or just ridicule him for not doing a 100 point inspection every morning?
I mean the guy is legitimately asking for help why not help.
I mean that’s the way trucking used to be …drivers actually helped each other.
Nowadays they pull out their phone and make fun of drivers who can’t back in etc…instead of getting out and helping them.
We’ve all had to learn and we’re all still learning. -
No one ridiculed anyone. -
However, this thread and comments within are regarding pre trip.
Unless you expect company drivers to remove the wheels on a pre trip.expedite_it Thanks this. -
