    You can go to
    Regulations.

From there you can click on "Comment Now" to leave your comments. This is just to get them to have a pilot program to test this. Which is stupid because it only worked well for 75 years like they are proposing until they screwed it up

I heard the "classes" were full. Is this what you speak of?

If FMCSA goes back to the multiple split break game, the ELD will take care of the math. Those of us old coots who lived with splitting breaks all over the place back in the day, a class on it would seem goofy.

    I like a minimum of 10 hours off, usually it's 12 hours.
I need 7 hours of sleep to be at my 100 percent.

Almost nothing. The noisy minority either suck it up and adapt, or they leave the industry. I switched to elogs voluntarily a couple months ago and couldn't be happier. Keeping track of everything on paper is a pain and wasted 15-20 minutes every day that could have been spent driving.

I couldn't even imagine trying to keep track, on paper, of things moving on a trip from Canada to the US and back into Canada over 7 days.

I don't know anything about classes on it. Someone had posted a thread about FMCSA opening up a split break pilot program and FMCSA came out a couple days later saying that was a mistake; it is only a comment period where people can comment yay or nay on the proposed split break options.

Yes but we're talking about with ELD say your 14 has expired at the customer and they do not allow parking for your 10. This is the main problem. So say you are there at the customer for 5 hours then have to leave under violation and have to complete a 10, that is 15 hours down against your efficient productivity, plus carrying a violation for 6 months.

With the 3/7 4/6 or 5/5 splitting ability that 5 hours could be used for your break, legally leave the customer and complete 5 more hours off duty/sleeper and your 10 is 10 not 15 and no violation.

So I get held up and the elog logs me driving after my 14 hours to a truck stop, big deal.
I get my 10 hour break in and I'm ready to roll.
The 70 hour rule insures the now "15 hour" break doesn't hurt my drive time and earnings potential...

I don't see rates or wages changing due elds but its a very large picture and who knows for sure ?
The only things that has ever affected rates and wages is simple supply and demand .
I will say I'm hopeful that some of the many inefficiencies in the loading and unloading process will improve and the days of load it late and deliver on time are going to come to a screeching halt .
I'm a meat hauler and I expect to see some changes among packers but the scope of the whole industry is huge and I do expect it to get at least interesting.

Driving after 14 is a big deal. It is a huge violation as you know. Some companies may fire a driver for doing that which in turn will make it very difficult to get a new job with a fresh violation on the record and a fresh 'just fired' on the resume. We haven't even gotten to the god forbid part where a driver driving illegally is involved in a fatality crash.....
